Miller & Montford/La Goma Intersection Pilot Program Survey - Summer/Fall 2026

As part of the 2025/2026 Miller Avenue Corridor Intersection Safety Study, the City studied multiple safety improvement options for the Miller & Montford/La Goma intersection. These included a traffic signal, a mini-roundabout, and restricting through traffic from the side streets among other improvements. This pilot was reviewed and approved for installation by City Council at the meeting on July 29th.

The City chose to pilot a near-term safety improvement that removes the left turn lanes on Miller Avenue as seen in the image. This project removes a lane of travel for pedestrians to cross and reduces the number of conflicts at the intersection, making it clearer to observe which vehicle, pedestrian or bicyclist has the right of way. Although a safety improvement, this modification may add travel time to trips along Miller Avenue. The concept also adds buffered bike lanes to prevent drivers from crossing into bike lanes when making turns. The pilot project was first implemented in a temporary format on Monday, August 3rd.

The City will be evaluating the pilot project after 3 months with a recommendation to keep it, revise it, or remove it.
This survey aims to understand community opinions of the improvements.
