Modernised Anti‑Discrimination Legislation- Clubs, Associations and Membership-based Organisation Questionnaire

Introduction

The Falkland Islands Government (FIG) is currently developing modernised anti-discrimination legislation, with the first phase focusing on protections relating to race.

This means it will be unlawful to treat a person less favourably because of their race (discrimination), to subject them to unwanted conduct related to race that violates their dignity or creates an offensive environment (harassment), or to treat them unfairly because they have made or supported a complaint about discrimination (victimisation).

This questionnaire focuses on clubs, associations, and membership-based organisations. It aims to help FIG understand how clubs and associations currently operate, consider the impact of the proposed legislation, and identify where proportionate thresholds, support, or guidance may be appropriate.

You are a club, association or membership-based organisation if you are a group or organisation that people join or take part in. This includes:

• sports clubs
• social or community groups
• cultural, faith based, or interest groups
• groups run by volunteers or committees

Clubs and associations may be formal or informal. If you run a membership based group or organised activities, you should complete the Clubs, Associations and Membership-based Organisation Questionnaire, which will take 5 minutes to complete.

There are no right or wrong answers — we are interested in your experiences and views. Your feedback will help ensure the legislation is clear, fair, practical, and appropriate for the Falkland Islands context.
