The latest Snapshot of the Profession shows that the legal profession in Aotearoa New Zealand is becoming increasingly diverse. As a kaitiaki, the Law Society has a responsibility to support a flourishing legal profession that continues to evolve in equitable and inclusive ways. Your input will help us understand how the profession can better reflect the communities it serves and promote equitable and inclusive practices.
Your responses to this survey will sit alongside insights from stakeholder interviews, research on leading practices from other jurisdictions and professions, and advice from an external advisory panel to guide the development of a new strategy and action plan for diversity, equity, and inclusion for the profession, to be shared later this year.
While the Law Society is leading this effort, it will take leadership, commitment and effort from many organisations and individuals to achieve better outcomes in this area. As you answer the questions, please consider ideas and actions for all parts of the profession, not just the Law Society.
Finally, at the end of this anonymous survey, we have included some demographic questions to help us analyse and develop insights on the perspectives of various segments of the profession.
The survey is estimated to take 10-15 minutes to complete. Thank you for your participation in this effort.
