Youth Leadership Team for Food Allergy Management in Schools and Out-of-School Time (OST)

What is the Youth Leadership Team?
The American Academy of Pediatrics is bringing together up to 7 youth, aged 14-18 years old who have a food allergy, from across the U.S. to create a new group called the Youth Leadership Team.

What to expect?
Up to 7 young people will participate on the Youth Leadership Team to (1) as a group, develop one resource for pediatricians or youth to help them better understand how to support and improve food allergy management in schools or out-of-school time (OST), (2) individually, do one activity locally to advance food allergy management in your school or OST, (3) as needed, share your thoughts and expertise to other projects related to food allergy management happening at the AAP.

When would I participate?
The AAP will host five (5) 1-hour meetings (one per month) between January 2026 - May 2026. Members must attend at least 4 of the 5 meetings. A brief evaluation to learn more about your experience participating in the Youth Leadership Team will take place in June 2026.
