The City is accepting applications for its Youth Engagement Working Group from individuals between the ages of 18 to 30, as identified in the Terms of Reference.

About the Working Group

The Youth Engagement Working Group provides ongoing advice and guidance to the City of St. John's on how to best engage youth on City matters and advances recommendations from the Youth Engagement Strategy. As a member, you will share your insights on strategies, policies, and topics that matter to youth. Committee areas of focus include:

• Recommending effective ways for young people to engage with City services and events.
• Identifying barriers and gaps that could affect youth engagement.
• Exploring how the City’s partnerships can be leveraged to better engage hard-to-engage youth,
including newcomers, at-risk youth, and other vulnerable groups.
• Planning and hosting youth-focused events and initiatives for the City.

Eligibility

Eligibility requirements are outlined in the Terms of Reference. For individual representatives, applicants must be between 18-30 years of age and preference will be given to residents of St. John’s. Applicants should be within the required age group for the duration of the two-year term.

Selection Information

In addition to eligibility requirements, the specific skills and experiences of an applicant will be important factors in Working Group selection. While all residents who meet the eligibility requirements are encouraged to apply, those who have demonstrated experience with groups or initiatives that have goals consistent with the Working Group, as outlined in its Terms of Reference, will be given preference.
