Request for Candidate Recommendations for 2027 Board of Directors

The Henry County Chamber Nominating Committee is soliciting recommendations of qualified individuals for six seats on the Henry County Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors. Board members are elected for three-year terms. The member-elected Board is instrumental in the governance and leadership of the Chamber. Board members exercise influence in community issues through giving guidance to the Chamber in its programs, policies, and activities.

Nominations from the membership will be reviewed by the Nominating Committee which will present a slate of candidates to the Board. Following the Board's acceptance, Chamber members will vote on the slate of nominees in October 2026 and those elected will begin their term in January 2027.

The recommendation period will be open until Thursday, September 17, 2026. You may recommend yourself or you may recommend another individual who you believe is qualified and would be a good choice.


Qualifications
A prospective member of the Board of Directors of the Henry County Chamber of Commerce must be actively involved in a business or organization that is a current member in good standing of the Chamber. Bylaws prohibit more than one representative serve from a Chamber member.

Required Commitment

• Attend monthly Board meetings
• Promote Chamber benefits to prospective members
• Participate in Chamber events and activities
• Serve a three-year term

Nominating Committee and Election
Pursuant to our bylaws, the Nominating Committee is to recommend, and the Board of Directors will approve, a slate of nominees to be voted on by the general membership for six open seats on the 2027 Board of Directors of the Henry County Chamber of Commerce. In developing the slate, the Nominating Committee will consider all recommendations received from the membership, geographic locations of businesses currently represented on the Board to assure county-wide representation, and the nominee’s ability to serve. The Committee will assure quality representation of all Chamber members. Recommended individuals will be contacted by the Committee to verify their interest and to review the full extent of the commitment requested for service on the Board.

Please give serious consideration to nominating a Chamber member who will champion the goals and initiatives of the Henry County Chamber, thinks strategically, and is able to balance courageous decisions with good judgment.
