ROUTES PROJECT SURVEY

You are invited to participate in this stakeholder survey conducted within the framework of the ROUTES project. The key European trail federations within hiking, cycling and horse riding such as ERA (European Hiking Federation), IMBA (International Mountain Bicycling Association) Europe, FITE (Fédération International de Tourisme Equestre) and ENOS (European Network of Outdoor Sports) have joined forces with national and regional government agencies and federations in this initiative. The aim of ROUTES is to improve the governance, sustainability, and accessibility of trail systems across Europe.

It is of fundamental importance for ROUTES to involve stakeholders across Europe right from the start – your input is crucial for the project being able to address your needs and challenges. The objective of this survey is to collect expert insights from organisations involved in trail management, outdoor recreation, environmental protection, and mapping services. The results will support the identification of current governance gaps and inform the development of more harmonised, sustainable, and inclusive trail management frameworks at the European level.

The survey is addressed to:
  • National sport federations (hiking, mountain biking, equestrian, trail running)
  • Protected area authorities
  • Government bodies responsible for trail infrastructure or outdoor recreation policy
  • Mapping organisations and digital platforms
  • Trail activity providers and management organisations

Your responses will contribute to a comparative European analysis of trail governance practices.
Thank you very much for investing your time by participating in this survey – lets join forces to improve trails across Europe!
Estimated Completion Time:
The survey takes approximately 15 minutes to complete.
