Recognizing the 20th Anniversaries of Hurricanes Katrina and Rita at the 2025 GIH Annual Conference

Grantmakers In Health (GIH) will recognize the 20th anniversaries of Hurricanes Katrina and Rita as part of the 2025 GIH Annual Conference on Health Philanthropy, Forging Partnerships for a Better Tomorrow, on June 16-20, 2025, in New Orleans, Louisiana. Two decades ago, an unprecedented number of health funders partnered with community, government, nonprofits, and others on Katrina and Rita response and recovery efforts, and we want to incorporate as many of their voices and roles as possible in our programming.

As a result of the historic nature of the response, we are seeking input to help shape our sessions around the two hurricanes, including lessons learned and reflections on the partnerships required to rebuild the Gulf Coast.

Interested parties should fill out this brief form to contribute their ideas about GIH’s Katrina and Rita programming at the 2025 GIH annual conference. Please reach out to us at info@gih.org if you have any questions.
1.What topics related to hurricane response, recovery, mitigation, and equity should GIH consider?
2.Who would you suggest GIH consider as speakers about Hurricanes Katrina and Rita? Please include full name, title, organizational affiliation, and contact information (if available).
3.Was your organization involved in the response and/or recovery efforts? If so, please describe, including any current employees of your organization who were involved in the work.
4.Are there any other funders, nonprofits, and/or grantees that GIH should reach out to about our Katrina and Rita programming?
5.Is there anything else you would like to share?
