Welcome to the BUDDIES survey!

The aim of the survey is to identify specific competencies and skills needed to deliver impactful participatory learning activities in public libraries.

About

BUDDIES is an Erasmus+-funded project that supports public libraries in becoming more open, participatory, and rooted in their local communities. The project brings together libraries, community workers, and civic organisations from across Europe to share knowledge, strengthen professional skills, and develop practical resources that can make a real difference to people's lives.
The project works alongside The Europe Challenge, an EU-wide civic initiative, and focuses on one of the most important roles public libraries play today: serving as inclusive community hubs that actively engage citizens, support underserved groups, and strengthen democratic participation and lifelong learning.

This survey maps library roles and current skills, gaps, and training needs of library staff across Europe related to participatory learning, inclusion, and democratic engagement.

The estimated time to complete the survey is 10–12 minutes.
