Thank you for applying to United Way of the Wabash Valley’s African American Board Leadership Institute (AABLI). In its fourth year, AABLI is committed to increasing representation in leadership roles in the Wabash Valley by equipping participants with essential skills and knowledge for effective board governance.

Through a five-month curriculum, participants engage in intensive monthly sessions featuring community leaders, group discussions, and practical exercises, supported by resources and templates to supplement their learning experience. Graduates are connected with local organizations aligned with their personal missions, enabling them to contribute meaningfully to their community. United Way partners with Global Perspective Culture Company, founded by Camille Wallace of Terre Haute, who designed the curriculum, facilitates the monthly sessions, and provides one-on-one mentoring.

AABLI sessions meet one Saturday a month, March to August, from 10:00-2:00. To create an engaging and cohesive cohort, participants are required to attend in person, and they may miss only one meeting. The 2026 cohort will meet on the following dates:
March 21
April 18
May 16
June 13
July 25
Celebration: Thursday, July 30

The application deadline is February 15, 2026 at 4:00. Your application will be reviewed in mid February, and you will be informed of the results by the end of February.
AABLI exemplifies the power of community collaboration in building leaders and strengthening representation across various levels. By reflecting on the community they serve, participants are positioned to foster creative problem-solving and trust-building. To date, 58 people have become AABLI graduates. We appreciate your interest in this special program and look forward to reviewing your application.
