What helps you keep doing the things you love — and find joy in everyday life — while living with arthritis?

Maybe you've found an easier way to garden, cook, travel, exercise, create, spend time outdoors, play with your kids or grandkids, or enjoy a favourite hobby. Maybe you've adapted an activity, discovered a useful tool, changed how you do something, or simply learned what works for you.

We invite people living with arthritis to share the activities, adaptations, discoveries, and everyday moments that help you keep doing what you love and finding joy along the way.

The Canadian Arthritis Patient Alliance (CAPA), Psoriasis Canada, Fibromyalgia Association of Canada, and Lupus Ontario are collaborating on this project to collect stories, ideas, and life hacks from people across Canada.

This project builds on CAPA's previous collaboration with occupational therapy researchers and students at McMaster University, which explored how arthritis can affect identity, hobbies, leisure activities, and participation in everyday life. Through interviews, people living with different forms of arthritis shared the activities that matter most to them, the barriers they experience, and the strategies they use to keep doing what matters to them.

Now, we're inviting more members of the community to build on these findings by sharing their own experiences. Whether it's a favourite hobby, a helpful adaptation, a simple life hack, or a moment that brings you joy, your story can help create practical resources that support others living with arthritis across Canada.

With your permission, selected submissions may also be featured on CAPA and partner organization websites, social media, newsletters, educational resources, and other project materials to help inspire and support others living with arthritis across Canada.

You can share:
  • A photo
  • A short video (up to 1-2 minutes long)
  • A practical tip or life hack
  • A short story (up to 200 words)
  • An adaptation or assistive device you use
  • Words of encouragement for others
Sharing is completely voluntary. You can choose how you'd like to be identified if your submission is featured, and you'll be asked to provide permission before we use your contribution.

You can also share your submission on social media using #CreateSpaceForJoy and see what others in the community are sharing.
