Thank you for taking the time to complete UMCRM's March 2026 survey. With this survey, we hope to understand how year-round camp and retreat center staff as well as UMC conference staff who interface with camp and retreat leaders understand, train, and embody the positive character traits spirituality, integrity, and leadership.

This survey is part of an ongoing project which funded by The American Camp Association, in partnership with the Lilly Endowment, during which we are planning and preparing to apply for a grant to implement a 3-year character at camp initiative focused on supporting camp leaders as they develop spirituality, integrity, and leadership in such a way that it becomes part of the DNA of camp and flows into the campers' character development.

By completing and submitting this survey, you consent to your answers being used by UMCRM for the purposes of the Character at Camp Planning Grant, and/or for other internal and external reports (though this work is not currently planned for peer-reviewed publication). Your answers will be kept anonymous, and no identifiable information will be shared with camp or conference leaders, unless they are part of the data review team and/or your answers reveal that there is potential for harm toward yourself and/or others. Your anonymized answers will be used to inform UMCRM's ongoing work related to, but not limited to understanding the make-up of year-round and summer staff at camp and retreat centers; the ways positive character traits are understood, developed, taught, and caught at camp; how camps undergo staff training and professional development; and how camp leaders engage in spiritual formation.
