BSA WES Conference 2026 - Funded Place Applications

Information and criteria

WES is offering 60 funded places for full conference registration. These places are available for postgraduates and early career researchers and senior academics facing financial hardship.

A Funded Place includes:
  • Registration to all 3 days of the conference (9-11 September 2026)
  • Access to all sessions on the conference programme
  • Daytime catering at the venue (lunch and refreshments)
It does not include:
  • Conference dinner or any other evening meals
  • Travel costs
  • Accommodation
  • Visa application fees or travel documents (delegates are responsible for arranging these themselves)
  • Visa sponsorship (the BSA is not able to act as a sponsor for immigration purposes)

In addition, WES is also offering 2-nights’ accommodation for 20 delegates. These places are available for postgraduates and early career researchers and senior academics facing financial hardship. Successful applicants must register for the full conference in order to receive the funded accommodation.

These places will cover:
  • Accommodation on 9 and 10 September at on-site student accommodation at University of Bath (single occupancy only)
  • Breakfast on 10 and 11 September

Applicants can apply for both a funded place and accommodation.


Eligibility Criteria
  • You must be a current paid-up BSA Member at the time of application and during the conference dates.
  • You must not have access to funding for conference attendance.
  • Priority will be given to those who have not had funding to attend a WES Conference or other BSA conferences in the past, and have had an abstract accepted for presentation at the WES Conference 2026.

Funding will only be granted to the person named on the application and is not transferable.


The submission deadline is Friday 5 June, 23:59 GMT.

Decisions will be circulated via email no later than Friday 26 June.
