Women in Biogas: Survey on Current Status | 2026

Part 1: Women in the industry

The World Biogas Association’s (WBA) biennial Women in Biogas Survey explores the roles, experiences, and challenges of women across the global biogas sector. It collects insights on participation, career pathways, leadership, and access to support and training. The findings will inform the sector on helping to build a more diverse, innovative, and resilient biogas industry worldwide.

In 2021, the WBA established its Women in Biogas workstream to inspire women to enter the industry and empower them to excel. Recognising the importance of having a baseline, we conducted the Women in Biogas - Baseline Survey in 2022. The 2024 survey captured updated data on the current status of the sector that helped us report on and measure the representation and progress of women - the analysis report can be found here.

This 2026 iteration builds on the information collected to build an evolving picture, with updated and streamlined questions.
Both women and men from across the globe are invited to take part in this two-part survey which should take approximately 9 minutes to complete.

All answers are strictly confidential and will be stored, protected and processed in line with GDPR requirements. All responses will be anonymised and used only in aggregate. Only WBA Policy Team will have access to the identifiable data and such data will be destroyed within two years of completion. WBA's privacy policy can be found here.
