Cover Artist Application

Thank you for your interest in the City of Olympia 2025 Arts Walk Cover Art Search. To apply for this call please fill out the form below. Be sure you have reviewed the Cover Artist FAQ's and application guidelines before submitting your application. We suggest typing your responses in a separate document then copying the text over to the application as it is not possible to leave and return to the application.

Through this call two artists will be selected whose artwork will be featured in event publications one for spring and one for fall. Selected artists will be commissioned by the City of Olympia to each create a new, original work of art to be featured in Arts Walk 2025 publications. Artists working in a range of media are encouraged to apply, this includes 2D & 3D work, and installations, performance, and beyond, as can be captured in a photo for publication purposes.

Eligibility:
Artists 18 years or older who have officially participated in Olympia's Arts Walk within the last two years are invited to submit images of current work. For the 2025 call we are counting participation from 2023-2024. Official participants are ones that have registered and been included in publications in the Olympia Arts Walk individually or in group show. Applications are due November 18, 2024 by 11:45pm.

File upload requirements:
You are required to submit 5 work sample images. Each file must be smaller than 1MB.

If drawing from cultural influences different from your own please address how you have secured permission from the artist or community it belongs to, how you will give credit to the original source of work and how you show respect and understanding toward the people and cultural traditions the work represents or is inspired by.

* 8. On average Arts Walk artists have approximately 30 days to provide an initial concept sketch for review, and then an additional 30 days (approx.) to complete their artwork. Please describe your process for creating a work of art. Do you anticipate any challenges with the timeline? (200 words or less)

* 9. List of Works: Please submit a portfolio of 5 images of current artwork similar to what you would create for an Arts Walk cover. If selected for the cover commission, the expectation is that the artwork be similar in content, style and theme to work submitted here.

Work Samples

Please upload 5 images or your artwork. Images must be between 1MB and 5MB file size. Submitted as a JPEG, PNG, or GIF.
File names must include your first and last name followed by the work sample number. For example: for artist Jane Doe work sample 1 their file name would be "janedoe1.jpg".

Pro tips for submitting your work samples:
  • Make sure your images are good resolution and in focus.
  • Works will be viewed in a digital slide presentation on a computer screen or overhead projection - Landscape orientation images tend to work well in maximizing the visual frame your work will be reviewed in.
  • Be sure to rename your files to help streamline processing.
