Citizen Satisfaction Survey
Information Sheet and Informed Consent
The West Vancouver Police Department (WVPD) has partnered with an independent research consultant, Dr. Stephanie Johnston, to administer a citizen satisfaction survey to capture public satisfaction with and attitudes towards police services and community safety in West Vancouver.
The West Vancouver Police Department is inviting all members of the West Vancouver community to participate in the anonymous online citizen satisfaction survey. The survey is anticipated to take approximately 15 to 20 minutes to complete. This survey adheres to Public Safety Canada’s community survey standardized metrics and has been approved by the West Vancouver Police Department. There are no foreseeable risks in completing this survey, and participation in the survey is entirely voluntary. The identities of participants will remain confidential; the findings from the survey will be aggregated, so no individual participant will be identified or compared.
The data will be accessed only by the independent research consultant, Dr. Stephanie Johnston. The data will be used to develop a final report for the West Vancouver Police Department, the contents of which may be utilized to further inform policies, plans, and practices. The report may be subsequently made publicly available on the WVPD’s department website (www.westvanpolice.ca). The data may also be used to develop academic articles and presentations.
Citizen feedback is critical for improving police services and further contributing to the wellbeing and safety of the community. The citizen satisfaction survey ensures the West Vancouver Police Department adheres to the British Columbia Provincial Policing Standards requirement for community engagement. Most importantly, by providing an opportunity for all community members to express their wants and needs, the West Vancouver Police Department will be able to continue to move forward with achieving their goals of increasing community partnerships and confidence in the police, and contributing to the social wellbeing of West Vancouver.
This survey will be active from October 1, 2024 to October 14, 2024.
Your participation in this survey is greatly appreciated.
