The Council of Academic Public Health Institutions Australasia (CAPHIA) is currently seeking expressions of interest for the appointment of Scientific Committee Members to drive the success of our annual Teaching and Learning Forum. The CAPHIA Teaching and Learning Forum is our flagship event, offering an unmatched opportunity for the sharing of best practice in evidence-based public health teaching and learning.
 
The 2024 Teaching and Learning Forum will be hosted by the University of Queensland's School of Public Health and co-chaired by Professor Lisa Hall and Associate Professor Sheleigh Lawler. It is an in-person event and will take place across two days in picturesque Meanjin (Brisbane) in Queensland on 26th and 27th September 2024.

About CAPHIA
CAPHIA is the peak organisation that represents public health in universities that offer undergraduate and postgraduate programs, research and workforce development in public health throughout Australasia.
Our purpose is to maintain high quality academic standards in the education and development of public health practitioners and researchers, to lead and represent public health education in the tertiary sector and to be a respected voice and advocate for the development of public health professionals and researchers within Australasia.
 
Committee Objectives
The Forum Scientific Committee provide input and advice to the Executive Director and the Forum Local Organising Committee on the development of the Forum program, ensuring Forum content is current, relevant, interesting, and of value to Forum participants, and to the community of practice as a whole. Tasks include overseeing and reviewing the call for abstracts and providing guidance and direction on the conference theme and topics, speakers and panellists.

Eligibility
Committee members are volunteers and are appointed for a period of approximately 8 months, from March - November 2024.
 
To be eligible, candidates must:
- Be current staff of a CAPHIA member organisation and;
- Available to attend the Forum in-person and participate in regular Committee meetings (held via Zoom). 
 
Members will be selected in consideration of:
- Representation of geographic area and across member institutions
- Diversity of gender, culture, and field of experience
