Introduction
This survey aims to understand the impacts arising from the proposed motion before the General Assembly of NSW (the peak decision-making body for the Presbyterian church in NSW and the ACT) that all future elders are male only.
The survey seeking an individual response is confidential with any results summarised and de-identified.
Given this is a significant decision, the Assembly wants to consult, identify and take into account any potential impact on wellbeing, culture, and safety experienced by church staff, volunteers, and members as result of the proposed change.
The purpose of the survey is not to assess whether individuals agree or not with the proposed change but to assess the impact if all future elders are male.
The Assembly has established a Consultative Committee to progress the consultations, which will summarise responses from the survey and other consultations and provide summary information to the Assembly.
Your honest feedback will help inform the Assembly on this decision and inform future policies and support mechanisms within the church community.
