Academy General Information
The Words Beats & Life Academy is a pre-vocational after-school Hip-Hop program primarily for youth ages 8-22 in Washington, DC. We engage students interested in Hip-Hop culture by cultivating excitement for learning in our non-traditional classrooms. The Academy is focused on handing down the history, techniques, and traditions of Hip-Hop, advancing the pursuit of post-secondary education, nurturing and protecting a community of young artists, scholars, and entrepreneurs, producing premiere events featuring young Hip-Hop artists in Washington, D.C., and to celebrate what is new about Hip-Hop and the people that product it.

The Summer 2024 Words Beats & Life Academy will operate at various locations in the Columbia Heights neighborhood in Washington, DC
July 1- August 9, 2024.
The program will run on Monday-Friday from 9am-4pm. Monday-Thursday will consist of classes in the performing arts, visual arts, and music, and enrichment activities. Fridays will consist of field trips to venues/locations that are relevant to Hip Hop arts programming.
