Council is introducing a Food and Garden Organics (FOGO) recycling service to Port Stephens in July 2027. This means your food waste will be collected in your existing garden organics (green lid) bin rather than your general waste (red lid) bin.

The NSW Government requires all Councils to provide a FOGO service by 2030 to halve the amount of organic waste going to landfill. Our food and garden organics are a useful resource that can be turned into compost and used to improve local soils.

You will also receive a free kitchen caddy and liners to collect food waste at home.

Your feedback in this survey will help us plan a successful introduction of the FOGO service from July 2027.
