For centuries, Worcester Cathedral has stood at the heart of the city as a place of worship and prayer, welcome and hospitality - an extraordinary building held in trust for future generations.
Today, like many historic cathedrals, we are facing rising costs that are increasing faster than income. As an independent charity responsible for funding our own mission, staffing and the care of this building, we must address this gap thoughtfully and in good time.
Our commitment to worship is unchanged. Access for prayer, services and pastoral support will continue as it always has. At the same time, we are reflecting on how visitors who come primarily to explore the Cathedral’s history, architecture and cultural significance might contribute fairly to its care. This review is about ensuring long‑term sustainability while protecting the spirit of welcome that defines the Cathedral.
Through this consultation, we want to understand how those connected to the Cathedral and those who visit feel about potential changes to how visitor contributions are invited.
This short survey (around 10 minutes) will inform the Cathedral’s decision-making. All responses are anonymous.
