Welcome to the Crohn's and Colitis Foundation's Visiting IBD (VIBD) Observership Program application! Thank you for your interest in applying. This program has hosted a multitude of alumni who have gone on to becomes leaders in the field of inflammatory bowel diseases.
The Visiting IBD Observership Program requires applications to be completed and submitted by Friday, February 20, 2026. Completed applications will be reviewed in March/April 2026 and applicants will be notified of their application status in May 2026. Observerships for the 2026-2027 VIBD cycle will take place between September 2026 and May 2027.

Program Requirements:
- Candidates must be enrolled in an accredited fellowship training program within the U.S. at the time of application and at the time of scheduled rotation.
- Candidates must be in the 2nd or 3rd year of their gastrointestinal (GI) fellowship at the time of scheduled rotation.
- Candidates must have the full support of their program director for time away from their home institution for the duration of the program.

In order for your application to be completed and reviewed, you will need to upload the following documents to this application:
- Current CV
- Letter of Recommendation
- Home Institution Form

All applications will be scored in three categories:
1. Availability of IBD training at their home institution
2. Objective criteria, which includes but is not limited to the fellow’s educational and research accomplishments
3. The candidate’s responses to short answer questions and their interest in the program
