Ontario Autism Coalition Community Survey 2026: Ontario Autism Programs & Services Access |
About the Survey
The Ontario Autism Coalition (OAC) is conducting this community survey to better understand the lived experiences of autistic individuals and their families as they navigate services and supports in Ontario. This includes experiences with diagnosis, the Ontario Autism Program (OAP), respite services, education, child welfare involvement (Children’s Aid Societies), adult developmental services, and other related supports.
Your feedback will help us identify patterns, document community experiences, amplify the voices of autistic people and families, and advocate for meaningful improvements to policies, programs, and services. This survey is an opportunity for members of the community to share their experiences, challenges, successes, and recommendations for change.
This survey is intended for autistic individuals, parents, caregivers, family members, and others directly impacted by autism-related policies and services in Ontario. Responses may be completed by self-advocates or by parents/caregivers on behalf of an autistic family member. No identifying information is being collected, and all responses will remain anonymous. Please do not include personal or identifying information in any open-ended responses.
Survey findings will be shared with the community in aggregate form through reports, presentations, and infographics. The survey takes approximately 15–20 minutes to complete, depending on your experiences.
Consent to Participate
By continuing with this survey, you are providing your informed consent for your responses to be collected and used anonymously for analysis, advocacy, and public reporting. No personally identifying information will be collected. Participation is entirely voluntary. You may choose to skip any question or exit the survey at any time without consequence.
A Note on Language
In this survey, we use identity-first language, such as “autistic person” rather than “person with autism.” This reflects the Ontario Autism Coalition’s standard practice and aligns with the preferences expressed by many autistic self-advocates who view autism as an integral part of their identity. We recognize that language preferences vary, and we respect each individual’s right to choose how they describe themselves. Whenever possible, it is best to ask people how they would like to be identified.
Thank you for taking the time to participate and share your experiences. Your voice helps strengthen our collective advocacy for a more responsive and equitable system of supports and services in Ontario.
