Dear residents, visitors, and business owners,

Please help the Town of Uxbridge update our Open Space and Recreation Plan (OSRP) by participating in this important survey. A state-approved updated plan is necessary to qualify for state funding for acquisition and protection of open space and recreational facilities. This survey is being conducted to understand the needs and concerns of Uxbridge residents regarding the Town's open space and recreation facilities. A draft OSRP was last completed in 2008 but was never fully approved.

Open Space in this survey is defined as public and privately-owned undeveloped lands which are important for a variety of reasons, including habitat for wildlife, water resource protection, passive recreation, hunting and fishing, agriculture, forestry, or simply because of their scenic qualities and their contribution to the overall rural character of the town. The terms recreational facilities or recreation refer to land used for active recreational purposes, such as athletic fields or golf courses. Passive recreation refers to non-consumptive uses such as wildlife observation, walking along Uxbridge's wooded trails, biking along our scenic roadways, and canoeing or kayaking one of our waterways. Open space and recreational planning will help us preserve open space while allowing development to occur that is consistent with the character of Uxbridge.

Please take a few minutes to answer the following survey questions. This is a shorter version of our normal survey, focusing on the most important questions regarding open space and recreation issues. If you would like to complete the longer survey, please follow this link: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/UxbridgeLongOSRP

Responses for this survey will be anonymous and not attributed to individuals. Surveys must be completed by August 15, 2020. A public forum will be held in early Fall to share the survey results and gather additional comments.

Sincerely,
The Uxbridge Open Space Committee
