Introduction

The City of Vaughan is planning exciting enhancements to three parks in the Thornhill community along Yonge Street – Langstaff School Park (14 Uplands Ave.), Riverside Park (2 Riverside Blvd.) and Thornhill Park (26 Old Yonge St.).

As part of the development at 8188 Yonge St., funding has been allocated to enhance these well-loved Ward 5 neighbourhood parks, and you're invited to help shape what comes next.

What’s being proposed:
  • Langstaff School Park: Enhanced community gathering space with additional seating to better accommodate residents and visitors.
  • Riverside Park: Enhancements to the playground area, along with the addition of a new shade structure to improve comfort and usability.
  • Thornhill Park: A new outdoor fitness area to expand recreational opportunities.
The enhancement options presented in this survey have been thoughtfully developed based on each park’s unique character and needs, while also considering factors such as topography, available space and servicing constraints. These elements help shape what can be feasibly added or improved in each location.

For example, Langstaff School Park has a playground, basketball court and many mature trees, with just enough space available to accommodate a new gathering area for resting, socializing and supervising children. Riverside Park has seen strong demand for additional play options and currently lacks play equipment for older children. Thornhill Park already functions as an active mobility hub, making outdoor fitness equipment a complementary addition.

Before we move forward, we want to hear from you! While the proposed improvements reflect what is most feasible, we remain open to other ideas and encourage you to share your thoughts!
