1. Invitation to Participate - Applications Accepted Until August 31

The Environmental Leadership Awards Committee has re-designed the submission to recognize all levels of sustainability efforts.

It doesn’t matter where you are along the sustainability journey; what matters is that you have started that journey. Are you in the process of developing your goals?  Has your company started building a strategy  for your  journey, or are you leading the way for the industry?  Maybe you are somewhere in between.  TLMI wants to recognize our members who are taking steps that show their company is focused on sustainability.
Since work on sustainability is ever evolving, and no one is ever really finished, there are three different pathways to submitting an application for The Frosties:

The Trailhead Award: This award is earned by a member company that is early on in their sustainability journey. They may not have fully implemented their sustainability efforts, but they have  goals and have begun planning a strategy.

The Journey Award: This award is earned by a member company that not only has publicly stated goals but has begun implementing short-term actions aimed at long-term metrics to improve their business through sustainability efforts.

The Elevation Award: This award is earned by a member company that is leading the industry with fully formed, publicly stated sustainability goals, strategies, and executions that are improving multiple aspects of sustainability. Award recipients will demonstrate significant, measurable, environmental benefits as a result of projects, products, or programs that go beyond regulatory requirements.

ELIGIBILITY & JUDGING
All TLMI members are eligible to apply. The general principle is to reward the projects or products that have the greatest positive impact on sustainability for where your company is on the journey. This can be understood either in current metrics or in the potential transformative impact. The more factual information you can provide – including written explanation of the who, what, when, how, why, and relevant supporting data, the more favorable judges will be. Judges also consider the holistic implications for sustainability even if you emphasize one particular aspect, such as waste diversion or a new product launch.

Examples of some previous winning applications:
  • Decreased waste disposal rate through source reduction, reuse, recycling, and/or prevention;
  • Increased energy efficiency, including using renewable energy;
  • Reduced environmental impacts of materials through product innovation, a new technology, process, or purchasing plan;
  • Implemented an environmental engagement or education program for employees and/or the community.
