A Survey to Help Create a New Life Plan Community in Humboldt County

A Quick Overview of our LPH Community Plan
Background A local non-profit organization is developing a new, lifestyle-driven community for people 60 and older to serve the Humboldt County area. It will be a Life Plan Community offering all levels of living, along with access to a wide range of amenities and services on one campus.
Location We are currently looking at locations in McKinleyville and Arcata with easy access to area restaurants, health-care, entertainment, and amenities.
Timeline Property selection is hoping to be complete by the end of 2022 with construction to begin in late 2024 with move-in by early 2027.
Residences The community will include approximately 80 cottages and apartments.
Continuing Care A person can spend the rest of their life within a Life Plan Community accessing higher levels of care as needed.
Community Amenities The amenities currently being considered are multiple dining venues; fitness/wellness center, arts/crafts studio, multi-use spaces for meetings, events, and other activities, walkways, bike trails, and outdoor areas for recreation, a picnic area, social/entertainment events.
Pricing Residents pay an upfront, one-time entrance fee and an ongoing monthly service fee that covers a wide array of services, programs, and access to amenities. If residents need a higher level of care such as assisted living or memory care they will receive a discounted rate on those services. Residents have the lifetime right to live there, regardless of changes in their financial circumstances.
Services Included Monthly fees cover your residence, utilities (electric/water/sewer), cable and internet service, home maintenance (appliances, plumbing, lighting), a flexible dining plan, housekeeping; transportation, a full calendar of cultural, educational, social, wellness events, security, assistance with health care coordination, and access to community amenities.
