Introduction

Teach Access Europe is conducting this survey to understand the current state of accessibility skills, hiring practices, and organisational readiness across industries. It is intended for individuals with some knowledge of their organisation’s accessibility practices. Insights from this survey will help:
  • identify skills gaps where demand does not match what talent is available
  • inform workforce development and identify areas for growth
  • guide efforts to advance accessibility and disability inclusion within organisations
Teach Access Europe defines accessibility skills as the knowledge and ability needed to create, procure, evaluate, manage, or communicate digital products and services that are usable by people with disabilities. These skills include, but are not limited to:
  • accessibility standards such as WCAG
  • inclusive design practices
  • Assistive Technology awareness
  • accessible communication
  • disability-inclusive research
  • development practices
Accessibility skills exist along a spectrum. While some roles require deep, specialist expertise, all roles involved in digital products, services, or content benefit from a foundational understanding of digital accessibility and disability inclusion.

This survey is intended for professionals whose work involves accessibility, across different types of organisations and industries. We are interested in your perspective on your organisation’s accessibility, hiring, training, and workforce practices. You do not need to have direct responsibility for all of these areas to participate. If you are unsure of an answer, please select “Don’t know / Not sure” where available.

The survey contains 35 questions organised into the following sections:
  • Professional and Organisational Context (Questions 2–8)
  • Organisational Accessibility Skills or Gaps (Questions 9–14)
  • Talent and Hiring (Questions 15–25)
  • Training, Upskilling, and Workforce Development (Questions 26–31)
  • Future Outlook and Perception (Questions 32-35)
Depending on your responses, you may not need to answer every question.

The survey takes approximately 25 minutes to complete. Completion time varies depending on your familiarity with the topic, whether you choose to answer the optional open-text questions, and the technologies or input methods you use. Please take the time you need.
