Introduction
British Equestrian, (BEF) is the national federation for horse sports in Great Britain (England, Scotland and Wales). We represent numerous equestrian organisations (excluding horseracing), including member organisations such as the British Grooms Association (BGA) and Equestrian Employers Association (EEA).
This research, conducted in partnership between the BEF and EEA/BGA is an invitation to anyone who’s part of the equestrian workforce —including employers—to share your own experiences around negative practices and unacceptable conduct, sometimes referred to as prohibited behaviours, which create a hostile or unsafe environment.
Everyone across the equestrian workforce should reasonably expect an environment that is fair, safe, free from prohibited behaviours and treats everyone with respect. Your feedback will help us to shape the equestrian industry as an inclusive and rewarding place to work.
BEF’s Prohibited Conduct policy demonstrates a clear position on harassment, bullying, and other forms of inappropriate behaviour. Your responses will be collected and stored in a de-identifiable way. If you wish to report any specific incidents for investigation you can do so via our online form.

Please note this survey is open to all people over the age of 18, who work in equestrian settings in Great Britain. We request your first-hand, direct experiences that you have witnessed within the past two years.
Thank you for taking the time to share your lived experience – your voice could help to spark real change.
