PPN Community and Voluntary Representative - Nomination Form

The Strategic Policy Committee (SPC) for Social Inclusion, Community & Rural Development brings together both elected members and other interests, such as farming, environmental, social inclusion, community & voluntary sectors and business community to formulate, review or develop policies related to council services.

This involvement from relevant interests enables the SPC to best prepare the groundwork for policies which are then decided on by the Local Authority. This model of working provides elected members with external views to assist them in their strategic role in the development of the Local Authority.

This is a new Strategic Policy Committee (SPC) for the new five year SPC Scheme. This means that these are new PPN Rep seats. Although there are Social Inclusion PPN Reps on all SPCs, there is a need for focused social inclusion policy and expertise to develop policy to reduce social inequalities. Some of the topics that may be covered by Social Inclusion, Community & Rural Development SPC include:
  • Social Inclusion
  • Town/ Village Community and Rural Development
  • Marginalised groups
  • Equality policies
  • Integration
There are 16 members of the Social Inclusion, Community & Rural Development SPC as follows:
  • 10 Elected Members
  • 1 representative from Agriculture & Farming Sector
  • 1 representative from Business / Commercial Sector
  • 4 representatives from Public Participation Network (2 Community & Voluntary pillar, 1 Environment pillar, and 1 Social Inclusion pillar)
