Saugatuck Bond Planning Survey 2026

Introduction

Dear Saugatuck Public Schools families and residents,

In March 2020, Saugatuck's voters approved a $35.64 million school district bond proposal. That bond initiative allowed the district to address important facility projects and expand educational opportunities for students at Douglas Elementary and Saugatuck Middle-High School, with all projects coming in on time and within budget.

We are finalizing plans for a potential November 2026 bond proposal designed to address key facility issues, and student and community spaces with no projected tax rate increase over the current rate.

This bond would focus on priorities such as:
  • Creating new spaces for student and community members with a new Community Recreation Center, located on 50 acres of district-owned land on Wiley Road in Douglas
  • Enhancing performing arts space
  • A new Early Childhood Center to expand access for our youngest learners
  • Continually enhancing safety and security
  • Additional projects such as parking lot improvements, bus replacements, and moving transportation from Blue Star Highway

Your input is a vital part of this process. Thank you for taking the time to share your perspective and help shape the future of Saugatuck Public Schools.

Sincerely,

Mark Neidlinger
Superintendent
