Survey Purpose
Under The States of Guernsey (Representation of Alderney) Law, 1978, two Members of the States of Alderney are appointed to represent the island in Guernsey’s States of Deliberation. Since 2006, this appointment has been informed by a public plebiscite. However, the plebiscite was introduced on a trial basis, with an intention to review the process in 2007.
That review did not take place, and the plebiscite has continued informally for nearly two decades.
In line with the recently publicised intention to undertake Government Reform, The Policy & Finance Committee is now seeking views from the public on whether the Plebiscite process should be formally established or discontinued.
