Bowen Island Official Community Plan (OCP) Update

Phase 2 Engagement Survey

Bowen Island Municipality is undertaking an update to the Official Community Plan (OCP) to guide growth and development over the next 20 years.

The OCP is a long-term plan that outlines policies, informs land use decision making, and defines development strategies. An OCP provides a high-level framework for community development, within which zoning decisions and other, more specific community plans are made. It helps guide Council decisions, informs future zoning and bylaws, and shapes public investments and priorities.

A lot has changed in the community since the current OCP was adopted 15 years ago. The updated OCP reflects a community-driven approach to planning. It is guided by commitments to reconciliation, environmental stewardship, sustainability, and resilience, and is informed by frameworks such as the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples, the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, and circular economy principles.

This survey is part of Phase 2 public engagement and focuses on the draft OCP. Your feedback will help identify where there is support, where refinements may be needed, and what matters most to you as the Plan is finalized. The questions in this survey cover key topics such as the OCP vision and principles, key content areas, land use designations, and development permit areas.

The draft OCP builds on feedback we received from you in Phase 1 engagement, which reviewed the 2011 OCP and identified key values to include in this updated OCP.

We invite you to complete this survey and provide your thoughts on refinements to policy and land use designations for the OCP to address. This survey will take approximately 15-20 minutes to complete, all questions are optional.

Thank you for participating!
