Introduction

A new residential development is being planned for Sanderling Avenue, Hawks Nest.

Located between Bennetts Beach and the Hawks Nest Golf Club, the proposal would provide 104 homes across 3 apartment buildings. The design incorporates landscaped gardens, communal spaces such as pools and gyms, and basement parking for residents and visitors.
Currently an environmental impact statement (EIS) is being developed, which

If the project is approved, it will be developed in stages and will include:
  • 3 apartment buildings (up to four storeys)
  • approximately 104 homes, ranging from studios to four-bedroom apartments, including adaptable units
  • secure basement parking for residents, visitors, trailers and bicycles
  • upgraded Hawks Nest Golf Club car park and new stormwater treatment system
  • 2 swimming pools, indoor and outdoor gyms, BBQ areas and communal lawns
  • landscaped gardens and open spaces with native planting, shade trees and walking paths
  • outdoor fitness equipment and seating areas for residents to gather and socialise
  • a caretaker’s office, resident storage, and service vehicle access.
What approval is required for the proposed redevelopment to go ahead?

The Sanderling Avenue proposal will be assessed as a State Significant Development (SSD). Currently the project team is developing an Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) to meet the planning requirements and relevant guidelines.

The Department of Planning, Housing and Infrastructure (DPHI) will assess the application.
