1. About the CBA Scholarship program

Commonwealth Bank of Australia [CBA] has provided a unique opportunity to the financial counselling sector through its partnership with ICAN Learn; CBA is providing up to 15 scholarships for candidates to undertake the Diploma of Financial Counselling [CHC51115]. The CBA scholarships apply to those interested in becoming financial counsellors in the Northern Territory who can commit to the study requirements and agrees to complete the course. 

The program includes blended learning approaches including face to face and online activities, personal and academic mentorship in a supported learning environment connecting ICAN Learn students to the task of becoming professional financial counsellors.

The course is be delivered by experienced financial counsellors who have completed the Certificate IV Training and Assessment qualification in your state.

The application process has now progressed to asking those who have expressed interest to complete responses to our selection criteria.

The CBA Scholarships are provided by Commonwealth Bank of Australia and are available to give opportunity to increase the number of financial counsellors in NT and assist those who are currently working in roles related to financial capability and wellbeing to undertake the Diploma of Financial Counselling.
CBA has long been targeting the education of new financial counsellors to support a better approach for vulnerable clients, ensuring up to date information and casework approaches.

The scholarships are co-ordinated and managed by ICAN Learn. The scholarships cover the costs of full course fees for the Diploma of Financial Counselling and has limited places.

About the Scholarships

The key targets for this program are individuals working in a financial wellbeing role who wants to increase his/ her ability to work with vulnerable clients in debt through financial counselling.
  • The scholarship is not bound by age limits or qualifications.
  • Scholarship funds cover the full cost of course fees for the 2019-2021 Diploma of Financial Counselling in designated areas;
  • Scholarship funds are paid directly to the Registered Training Organisation.
  • The Diploma of Financial Counselling [CHC51115] is a nationally recognised qualification and ICAN Learn meets the required standards for scope of delivering this course.
  • Course delivery is through a combination of face to face, online, blended and work place learning opportunities and work-placement experience.
