BVA Animal Health and Welfare Overseas Award (J. Trevor Blackburn Award) recognises a BVA member who has worked to improve animal health and welfare overseas. They have contributed to sustainable development and made a meaningful impact on animal health and welfare in low and middle income countries.

However well-known the nominee may be in the veterinary sector, the nominator should assume that their candidate may be unknown to the Selection Committee.

The judges will be looking for examples of:
  • Work overseas, including a list of countries worked in
  • Significant positive impact overseas, including to locally driven sustainable initiatives.
  • Strengthening and supporting demand for in-country veterinary systems
