First Nations Leadership and Engagement Award - This award recognises individuals who identify as LGBTIQA+ and members of the First Nations community who have engaged in advocacy or activism for LGBTIQ+ causes.
Bizzi Lavelle
- Bizzi is a leading member for First Nations Australians in the queer and performer industry. She has a strong voice in community and is the blueprint for staunch activism through art.
Paul Calcott
- Uncle Paul Calcott played a big part in setting up, and is currently leading, Mob 4 Mob (First Nations Disability group for First Nations People with Disability). He is a proud gay man who, through art and advocacy, advances the rights and needs of people with varying disabilities especially Mob.
Bindi Lavelle
- A staunch proud Blak and Queer unionist, Bindi Lavelle has consistently been fighting for workers rights in both her own workplace and others. She has consistently advocated, lead and represented worker’s rights. Her victories include wage parity including back pay, diversity and inclusion and consistently organising to fight back against workplace bullying and mistreatment from higher level staff.
Katya Lou King
- As an long time advocate for and member of the Aboriginal community and culture, Katya has been a staple in making sure venues, events, and community are always respecting, booking, and standing with the First Nations Community. Her work as a POC in venues like The Sportsman Hotel are unmatched.
Mel Saward
- As a writer academic and activist for Aboriginal and Torres Strait islander people, Dr Melanie Saward is an author whose published works ( be Penguin and Affirm Press), highlight her experiences as a Bigambul and Wakka Wakka woman. As one of the few writers of Aboriginal focused rom coms and chick lit at the moment, I think Mel is doing awesome things in the community and is also a talented ballet dancer and cabaret singer with Eunoia Dance Company
Dylan Barrett
- Dylan is a proud Wailwan Brotherboy and has been working hard for First Nations communities for the past 6 years, ensuring that Sistergirls & Brotherboy voices are included in all spaces. Dylan has been a valuable part of the Queensland Council for LGBTI Health team as well as a content specialist within Yarns Heal, a First Nations LGBTIQ+SB Suicide Prevention project.
Raja Clay
- Raja has engaged in policy and systems level advocacy for LGBTIQA+SB folk, particularly at the intersection of AOD
Nathan Skinner
- A proud Brotherboy and Senior First Nations Support Worker at Open Doors Youth Service. A respected leader in his community, Nathan brings cultural integrity, empathy, and authenticity to his work supporting LGBTIQ+SB young people. Nathan is currently leading ODYS’ first Reconciliation Action Plan, helping to embed culturally safe and responsive practices across the organisation.
Kelsey Doyle
- For the past 6 years Kelsey has demonstrated leadership by leading the front of the Pride March with the Aboriginal flag. He has stayed committed to ensuring First Nations is visible and embedded in the process. Kelsey is also a board member of the recently established 2Spirits Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Corporation for Queensland LGBTIQ+ SB Health and Wellbeing. He has collectively worked through histories to joint progress the governance of 2Spirits. Kelsey more recently represented Queensland LGBTIQ+ SB mob in Canberra for World Aids Day.
Khwanruethai Ngampromwongse
- A proud Wiradjuri, Ngemba Wayilwan, and Thai queer person deeply committed to creating safer, more affirming futures for our First Nations LGBTIQ+ communities. Currently undertaking PhD research at the Australian National University, and focused on improving the cultural safety of cancer care for LGBTQIA+ First Nations peoples, particularly in cervical screening, a critical and under-researched area.
Jodie Hall
- A young transgender Wakka Wakka woman who has been active in grassroots campaigns for social, economic and environmental justice. She is passionate about decolonisation and trans liberation. Jodie is an organiser with the resistance and the Meanjin branch of the Trans Justice Project
Shaun Edwards
- Shaun is a proud, First Nations artist, advocate, whose work has significantly uplifted the visibility, strength, and empowerment of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander LGBTI Brotherboy and Sistergirl communities across Queensland and beyond
Kerrie Thomsen
- Kerrie is a proud First Nations woman. She is open and shares her story freely. She was elected President of Dykes On Bikes this year and represents both the club and her people so well.
Annaliese McCarthy
- Annaliese is a proud Gadigal woman, living and working on Turrbul and Jagera Land. Annaliese is a designer at Blaklash, using her unique skills to ensure that our society designed with country through country-led architecture, art and design

Activist of the Year - This award recognises individuals who have engaged in advocacy or activism for LGBTIQA+ causes.
Evie Ryder
- Evie has been at the forefront of trans rights in QLD. Her work with inclusive skating, consent is rad and everything else she does to elevate trans rights has made a safer road for young trans people
Dustin Lowrey / Cadillac Deville
- Has been a fantastic voice for those without one. Starting Drag Queens for Dignity, And Cheer for Change. Raising money and products for sisters inside, as well as fighting for child safety in gyms. She was also recently featured on a current affair fighting for fair pay.
Alessa Katherine
- Alessa has started open stage baby drag on the Gold Coast at hairy Mary's and works tirelessly every week to help create a safe space for new and up coming performers to begin their journey. She has a love and passion for all things drag and it can be seen in her events
Billie Bendall
- Through their ongoing transition they have been extremely vocal and active on their socials in advocating for trans rights and for groups to be accessible to all genders and groups. While still respecting the clubs that have been longstanding, but calling for a change in the overall culture of the queer and kink communities to be inclusive to all genders. Billie’s activism has paved the way for trans rights in the Queensland and wider communities at the big dance parties & events in the Brisbane region. Hitting a market that has flown under the radar for so long.
Boo Deja Boo
- They are a co-producer of Heelfire Club AU one of the most gender devirse and welcoming ongoing live performance shows here in Brisbane. They help out and was the MC for international non-binary day Brisbane and they also have an unforgettable non-bina-delorion performance number bringing the lack of gender diverse representation to the spotlight.
Out of the public eye they continue to brake the binary.
Diamond Good-Rim
- Is standing up for the LGBTQIA+ Community and the fight against vilification and defamation. Battling a 6 year court case in relation to Brisbane Drag Queen Storytime held in Brisbane town library
Archie Arsenic
- Strongly advocates for people with a disability, mental health and gender diverse peoples.
Sev Faust
- They’re a disabled trans activist who works tirelessly to advocate for inclusion, access and safety for trans and disabled folks in the arts, and lgbtqia+ community
Kate Leslie
- Kate has been a driving force behind establishing Queer & Here as a charitable organisation, helping over 1000 rainbow kids and allies to attend Q&H events in across south east Queensland.
Neccho Brocchi
- Necho Brocchi is a proud trans woman and the Service Delivery Coordinator at Open Doors Youth Service. In 2025, she played a leading role in advocating against the pause on gender-affirming care for young people in Queensland—amplifying the voices of trans communities and working alongside allies, clinicians, and policymakers to push back against harmful reform. Necho’s advocacy is grounded in both lived experience and professional expertise. She spearheaded the launch of Queensland’s first dedicated support group for trans feminine young people, a vital service that has improved access to peer connection and mental health support for a community often left behind.
Jack McWilliam
- Jack (he/him) is Social Worker with over 10 years of dedicated service supporting marginalised queer and trans community as well as delivering training, mentorship and leadership in the sector. He creates safe and transformative spaces for our most vulnerable community members and demonstrates commitment and passion to LGBTIQA+SB wellbeing in all facets of his busy professional and personal life. Jack is proud queer transgender man.
Bonnie Hart
- Bonnie has a long time relationship with Intersex Peer Support Australia, having held several leadership roles and drafted multiple submissions informing Australian legislative and human rights reform on behalf of the group. Bonnie has participated in expert multiple advisory groups informing government and NGOs on intersex issues and is an intersex educator, developing affirmative practice resources and regularly providing sector-specific training through the Yellow Tick initiative.
Lulu LeMans
- Lulu LeMans has been a loud and prominent advocate for Domestic Violence awareness across Queensland. Lulu worked tirelessly in mid 2024 to raise more than $15,000 for Small Steps 4 Hannah. Lulu is an official ambassador for the Queensland-Based charity and has used her platform to raise awareness, and draw attention to the cause, through appearances on Sunrise, ABC news and Bridge2Brisbane.
Petria Leggo Field
- Petria, as a late bloomer, solo mum of four, and queer woman on a mission to make sure no woman questioning her sexuality later in life ever feels alone in it again. Petra is an advocate of spaces for women like her - those of coming out after years of living the “straight life,” and navigating motherhood, marriages, mortgages.

Ally of the Year - This award Recognises individuals who do not identify as LGBTIQA+ that have engaged in advocacy or activism for LGBTIQ+ causes and/or have shown exceptional support for the community.
Hugh Whitehouse
- Handsome Hugh Whitehouse has been a key part of the Queer performance space in Meanjin for the past 3 years. Hugh films, photographs and documents queer performances and art of all varieties with love and admiration. His groundbreaking and award winning film ‘Welcome to Queensland’ highlights the beauty and diversity of Brisbane drag and showcases the best in the biz. With a charming smile and clever wit, Hugh cares for every performer and event as if they were his family members. There is not a performer in town that hasn’t been behind the lens of Hugh.
Mamma Lou-King/Mel Sutherland
- They always give so much time to come and support the Queens and performers across multiple different venues, helping up-and-coming performers find their space as well as longtime support for the queer scene in Brisbane, Ipswich, Sunshine Coast, donating prizes and taking photos

- Decades of allyship to the whole community
Vanessa “Ness” Tate
- Ness has been a strong advocate of the LGBTIQA+ committee, with Free Mum Hugs and has an even stronger Mama Bear protection for the their teenager
Morgan Collura
- Morgan Collura has been a dedicated and compassionate ally to LGBTIQA+ young people for over a decade through their role as Senior Mental Health Worker at Open Doors Youth Service. During this time, Morgan has provided counselling and therapeutic support to hundreds of queer and gender diverse young people, many of whom credit her with playing a pivotal role in their wellbeing and self-acceptance.
Kate Fuller
- Kate (she/her) has been a volunteer of the LGBTI Legal Service, as both a volunteer Family/Criminal Barrister and Board Member for over 5 years. Kate is one of the most experienced barristers in Queensland when it comes to LGBTIQA+ issues and clients. She is dedicated to ensuring that LGBTQIA+ people are seen, respected and supported. Kate is a champion for our community, advocating for LGBTIQA+ people in whatever way she can. She has volunteered over 7 hours per week to the LGBTI Legal Service, providing legal services to our community and contributing to the governance that allows the Service to continue to give specialist legal advice to our community.

Young Achievement Award - This award recognises individuals aged 25 years and under who have made a significant contribution to the LGBTIQA+ community.
Nikita Nessence
- Nikita has made a massive impact on the drag scene and LGBTIQA+ community in such a short amount of time and at the age of 17!
Freya Armani
- Freya is an amazing performer who brings so much joy with her art and who works so hard to lift up and support others in the community.
Emma Stratton
- Emma is a trailblazing young filmmaker and documentarian who works to tell queer stories and document things happening in Queer arts and performance across Meanjin.
Raymond-Elvis Paice
- Raymond is a powerhouse of determination and heart, always striving to revolutionise the foster care system. Despite coming from a broken home and experiencing the challenges of being in care, he has channeled his past into a force for positive change.
Kasey Turner
- AKA Ladybird is an amazing contributor to the LGBTIQA+ community due to her passion and pride. Kasey displays pride in her drag and always elevating it to the next level. Kasey strives to perform at her very best, everytime. Kasey and is an absolute joy and delight to work with. Kasey also works in stage management and costume making and maintenance. Kasey is 22 years old and a full time QUT student and fabulous and proud drag performer.
Jess Stone
- Jess is a 19-year-old queer woman and 2025 Brisbane Pinnacle Foundation scholar (an educational scholarship for queer young people making waves). She works primarily in the child sexual abuse prevention space, and has consulted on policy for eSafety Commission, NAPCAN, ACU Institute of Child Protection Studies, YLab, QUT and more. She does her policy-level advocacy through the lens of her queer identity and her experiences as a CSAM survivor.

Community Social Group - This award recognises groups who run, organise and/or host social events for the LGBTIQA+ community (excludes sporting or community support groups)
Queensland Pups & Handlers (Q-pah)
- Q-Pah has been providing a space for pups, handlers, pets and anyone who wishes to find their own space that fits outside the norms, for the last 10 years. Q-Pah has grown into a welcoming, supportive and safe environment for everyone to form long lasting friendships and explore their pup sides without fear of judgement or persecution. Q-Pah has been hosting 2 events a month every month for the last 2 years, providing these spaces to the community and giving the community some much needed relaxation and respite from the day to day lives. Q-PAH’s special because they are fully inclusive to all genders and sexual orientations, pets and anyone who just wants to come along and have a great time.
Brisbane LGBT Socials
- This group has been a great social platform organising events in Brisbane and supporting surrounding events.It has been helping the community grow rapidly.With over 2500 members its a great space to establish a social connection in the community
Queensland Camping Bears
- Established in 2020, QLD Camping Bears has grown into a lively and inclusive group that warmly welcomes all members of the LGBTIQA+ community to all of its events. By organising monthly events that promote connection, support, and a sense of belonging through a love of the outdoors, QLD Camping Bears has become a pillar of the queer outdoors community. It's commitment to inclusivity and social engagement has earned the group four consecutive nominations in the Community Social Group category, showcasing it's unwavering dedication to making a positive impact throughout the wider Australian queer community.
The BootCo Brisbane
- This year markes 35 year anniversary since it was first founded back in 1990. Bootco is the longest running mens only organization in the southern hemisphere, providing a safe space for gay male identifying people to embrace their kinks and socialize monthly
Wrapped n Ready Program
- The group are all volunteers and do a fantastic job in packing condoms and safe sex packets to distribute in the community, it’s a free service and it advocates the safe sex message
Dungeons and Flagons
- Dungeons and Flagons is a queer tabletop, board game and rpg social group hosting a variety of games on a Sunday afternoon for LGBTQIASB+ people to come together and play games and create characters and campaigns in a safe, fun and supportive environment.
Brisbane Pride Choir
- Providing a safe place for people to come together and sing with pride.
Living Room Catch Ups
- This group was started in 2024 and aims to provide online and in person social engagement and community support for the LGBTIQA+ community, burlesque and drag communities. Created for those with ongoing health, disability and financial concerns, the activities and online support are aimed at being free to low cost and happen each month.
Rainbow Gympie
- This group was founded 16 years ago by Zee Parks who created this group so LGBTQIA+ folks would have a safe space to meet and connect. The monthly BBQs provide folks a chance to gather, connect, access information, have a meal and seek support as needed. They are a safe haven for those newly out or transitioning to find community and be linked into helpful services.
BrisBears
- Brisbears is a group that provides a safe and welcoming space for gay men in Brisbane. They organise social and charity events throughout the year.
The Late Blooming Lounge
- The Late Blooming Lounge is a global Facebook community I created for women who are questioning their sexuality or coming out later in life. With over 5,000 members worldwide, it’s become a lifeline for so many women navigating the often messy, confusing, and emotional process of late blooming. What started as a quiet space to share my story has evolved into a deeply supportive, empowering, and non-judgmental community where women can be seen, heard, and held—many for the first time in their lives.
We Skate
- We skate is an inclusive, accessible social group that encourages and celebrates all people’s inclusion in community. Through we skate activities, people can participate in activities that create social interaction, develop friendships and showcase awesome individuals
Brisbane Lesbian Run Club
- Started in December of 2024, in an extremely short period of time, has become one of Brisbane's largest and most foundational safe spaces for lesbian, queer and non binary people to socialise in a healthy environment. The group provides a community where people can make friends, feel safe, accepted and supported regardless of their age or ability.
Dykes on Bikes QLD
- Dykes on bikes qld plays a major part in the rainbow community. They are the leaders and protectors.

Open Doors Youth Service
- Open Doors Youth Service (ODYS) proudly delivers some of Queensland’s most impactful and diverse social support groups for LGBTIQ+ young people. With a strong focus on community, connection, and mental health, these groups provide safe, affirming spaces where young people can find belonging and be celebrated for who they are. ODYS’ psychosocial groups are evaluated across 5 key domains: improved mental health, access to safe and appropriate supports, increased sense of identity and belonging, increased hopefulness for the future and increased connection to peers and community
ODYS' social groups are a lifeline for many and a testament to the power of community-led, youth-centred care.
Gay On The Gold Coast
- They are a great social group connecting Gold Coast residents with events and information, very important to the Gold Coast scene
Gay Skate
- Gay Skate are consistently showing up and providing a safe, affirming and fun space for our LGBTQIA+ community to connect, have fun and be themselves. Importantly, these events are run consistently - giving regular opportunities for young and old to enjoy themselves and forget their oppression for a little while. It is events and programs like this that provide affirming spaces that help prevent suicide.

Diverse Voices
- Diverse Voices has been supporting the mental health, wellbeing, belongingness and connection of our community for over 40 years.
Open Doors Youth Service
- Open Doors Youth Service (ODYS) supports LGBTIQ+ SB young people aged 12 to 25 and
is the only service of its kind in Queensland. ODYS is dedicated to empowering LGBTIQ+ SB young people to live with pride as valued, celebrated, and authentic members of community. Engaging a workforce with lived experience and professional expertise. Providing safe spaces for young people to connect with peers and community to foster a sense of belonging. Improving mental health outcomes and lowering suicidality for LGBTIQA+SB young people.
Many Genders One Voice
- Many Genders One Voice is a Trans, Gender Diverse and Non-Binary Social and Support Group.
This group is made up entirely of volunteers from across the Trans, Gender Diverse and Non-Binary communities and their allies. We were founded in 2011 in direct response to the stigma and discrimination Transgender and Gender Diverse people were facing when trying to access gender affirming care. The group holds a number events throughout the year, most notably Trans Fair Day, Trans Awards and Transgender Day of Remembrance ceremony and the lighting up of the Story Bridge in Transgender colours.
Living Communities
- As a queer run and founded business living communities is a pillar in the Queensland queer NDIS Disability Support Space. Providing much needed support and assistance to those in the queer community. Including advocating for people who have had issues receiving correct supports, supporting people in our diverse communities to achieve their goals and live their lives to the fullest. Living communities is a shining light for those who are living with a disability and who want to be able to live their best queer lives without judgement.
The Courageous Space
- They work with trans and queer youth and have made a difference to so many kids and their families.
Free Mum Hugs
- This group of loving mum, dads, siblings and family members. Attend every pride event, rally, protest, formals or sporting events etc and represent those that show unconditional acceptance and love to our LGBTQIA+ community. A simple hug or high 5 can give a person so much mental relief and compassion. They are truly changing lives with each hug.
2Spirits
- The 2Spirits aims to improve the health and wellbeing of First Nations’, LGBTIQ+, Sistergirl and Brotherboy’s across Queensland. 2Spirits promotes community awareness initiatives through yarning circles, workshops, outreach, resources and campaigns. 2Spirits became its own organisation in 2024 and prior to that had been running as a program at Queensland Council for LGBTI Health (previously known as Queensland AIDS Council/QuAC) for the the past 28 years.
Yarns Heal
- Yarns Heal provides social support in the way Cultural Healing Retreats in 6 corridors in Queensland for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander LGBTIQ+ Sistergirl and Brotherboy community people. By destigmatizing and fostering open conversations with proactive interventions, Yarns Heal Retreats and online social support builds communities where everyone feels valued, seen and supported to be their full and complete selves.
This social support marks a significant step forward in our collective effort to create safer communities, increases resilience and supports those in need.
LGBTI Legal Service
- The LGBTI Legal Service provides free legal services to LGBTIQA+ people in Queensland. It is the only LGBTQIA+-controlled community legal centre nationally. This year, the Service has supported our community through the Queer Migrant Project, creating a specialist resources on non-binary rights and providing safe and accessible services to the LGBTIQA+ community. Particularly at a time where LGBTIQA+ rights are under attack, the services that the LGBTI Legal Service provide are more important than ever.

Event of the Year - This award recognises events for the benefit of the LGBTIQA+ community held either once or at regular intervals throughout the year.
PAW’D
- Holding regular non gendered kink events, so people can express their true selves, giving a space for the queer and kink scenes to party and feel sexy regardless of gender
altimate.SHOWDOWN
- They have continuously and consistently produced amazing show after show as well as bringing Brisbane, Melbourne and now Sydney one of the best new competitions for performers of all types. Their continued dedication to the LGBTQIA+ community as well as fundraising for various charities demonstrates the wonderful values upheld by the 3 producers.
Open Stage Baby Drag
- This is the only event on the Gold Coast where baby drag performers can start, the event has been wholesome, and created a beautiful community where these new performers can grow.
Kinky Land
- An all gendered, queer run kink event. Held at Sporties. This event provided a space for everyone who embrace their darker side of their lives in a way that was open and accessible to all. With the options to try out some equipment, watch on to some amazing demonstrations that sat outside the box of what is normally portrayed on stage, and the space was created to be social, and accessible to all. For its inaugural event, this event showed that Queensland can have an inclusive queer kink scene that isn’t just a “party”
TIP @ VIP
- It was an amazing event organised by Henny Spaghetti to raise funds for Open Doors after the QLD liberal government hormone ban on trans youth. Countless performers showed out and the community came together all on one night with very short notice to make a huge difference.
Purr
- Amazing event with such a massive following and great vibe! Bringing the community together, providing a new safe space in multiple venues for our queer community
Heelfire club
- Heelfire Club is the nerdy cryptid child of the Non-binary parent and child draglesque combo of Lady Sasscrotch and BOO! Deja Boo! Heelfire Club's aim is to create a safe space for performers and community members of all gender histories, identities and expressions. Working with kings, queens, things and others within the local and national level.
SOLD OUT: Sexy Gay Art
- Sexy Gay Art was the largest group art exhibition specifically for the LGBTIQA+ in Meanjin in 2025. 25+ Visual artists created artwork based on the exhibition's theme: Sexy Gay Art: Creative Works on Sexuality & Intimacy Through the Eyes of Queer Artists. LGBTIQA+ artists from all different walks of life, gender, sexual and age converged for one magical evening where LGBTIQA+ love, sexy and relationships were discussed and celebrated through the medium of visual art.
Bombshell Ball
- The Bombshell Ball is The Bombshell Burlesque Academy’s end of term showcase. The show features a wide array of Burlesque styles from classic to neo, groups, troupes and soloists. The show is a tightly run ship with Bi powerhouses Lila Luxx and Lenore Noire at the helm. Every showcase highlights how fun, stunning and refined burlesque is and makes you wish you were up there too. The showcase has been running for 12 years.
Girl on Girl
- Girl on Girl showcased female / non binary art forms, both physical and performative. Jaymie the owner created a comfortable and fun environment at the event for those in the lgbtiq+ community.
Haus of E Worlds Greatest Shave
- Haus Of E Productions has put on a annual event for the past 5 years now raising thousands of dollars every year and managed to grow and become bigger and better year after year.
Queer and Here
- They provide LGBTIQA+ students a safe space to be themselves in an event that provides drag queens and other queer artists to showcase their talents along with other activities for students to partake in.
Queer Sister Smackdown
- It provides an opportunity for younger, newer queens to get on stage and make a name for themselves in the drag scene
Queer Here Art Exhibition
- Queer Here' is a partnership art exhibition between the Queensland College of Art & Design, Griffith University and the Brisbane Pride Festival. The event is an extraordinary event that offers a dynamic and authentic reflection of the diverse voices within the LGBTIQA+ community. This annual exhibition, now in it's third year, is presented in partnership with QCAD Galleries, Griffith University and the Brisbane Pride Festival, showcases the talents and lived experiences of queer creatives from Brisbane/Meanjin, with a particular focus on emerging creatives and those who perhaps have not exhibited before.
Hombre
- This event is held on a regular basis and is always themed with quality dj's and fabulous interstate DJ's. The event is always sold out and always held with quality standards
Lushhh Drag Events
- For a new event in Toowoomba there first show was sold out with 270 tickets sold and the April 2025 show Disco was sold at over 150 tickets sold. For a new show they have already had a great community response and Toowoomba definitely is need of a show like this to show diversity and inclusion.
POPPERZ

Loud & Proud Logan
- Loud & Proud Logan was the first pride event in Logan QLD, 100% run by volunteers in Oct 2024.
It created a safe, accessible space that celebrates the art and joy of our LGBTIQA+ community in Logan.
Shanty Club with The Salty Sirens
- This monthly singalong event is a welcoming space celebrating not only the joy of singing together (regardless of singing ability) but also queer joy and queer history. The Sirens edit old shanties and folk songs to centre queer historical figures and also fictional queer counter-narratives, fighting the erasure of queer people from history and folk song. The Salty Sirens work hard to centre queer stories and encourage caring for each other (drunken sailors included) and they have worked hard over the last four years to cultivate a loving and warm space where LGBTIQA+ people feel welcomed and safe and celebrated.
Black Pride Ball
- The Black Pride Ball, founded by Shaun Edwards and held in Cairns, is an event created specifically for First Nations LGBTIQ+ Brotherboy and Sistergirl communities. It provides a culturally safe and welcoming space where community members can come together, celebrate identity, showcase talent, and formally recognise community contributions through the Black Pride Awards.
LGBTQ Domestic Violence Awareness Foundation Gala
- The LGBTQ Domestic Violence Awareness Foundation raises awareness and creates educational resources regarding Domestic Violence in LGBTIQA+ relationships. Their annual gala is a fundraiser that raises cruical funds to ensure their important work continues. At the 2024 Gala, the Foundation launched an educational resources for front line workers, an online course that provides best-practice tips for front line workers to respond to domestic violence incidents for LGBTQ+ people. The Foundation does incredibly important work to ensure that LGBTIQA+ people are seen, heard and believed when they experience domestic, family and intimate partner violence.
So Bae Party Mix
- A weekly event that is self described as a ‘safe space party zone’. Many of the listeners connect with So Bae due to social anxiety or they simply can’t afford to go out. So Bae helps them feel connected to the community and let’s them know about a wide variety of upcoming events; with weekly headliners, features and interviews. While also playing music from across the decades and genres.
Gay Skate
- Gay Skate is an inclusive community group that is run significantly by and for trans community. Gay Skate encourages and supports community members of all ages and diverse identities to participate in creating queer and trans joy by using our bodies to be creative and powerful via skating together. They offer a much welcomed, all-ages and substance free safe space for trans community to make connections and have fun.

- Hairy Mary's is the only gay owned gay bar on the Gold Coast, over the last year it has been our home. The events are all inclusive, and Steven Fahd and the team have built the most beautiful family environment
The Wickham
- The Wickham is the crown jewel of the Brisbane queer scene. After extensive renovations, the Wickham boasts the biggest roster of Drag Talent in the city, from weekly talk shows, to iconic street parties, The Wickham does it bigger and better than anywhere else. The diversity and scale of the shows at the Wickham puts Brisbane on the same level as the iconic Oxford Street in Sydney.
Banshees Bar and Art Space
- Banshees Bar & Artspace was founded in May 2018 by local legends Nina and Ken Weaver, who built a culture of inclusivity, care and creative energy into what was a long, empty white room. In 2022, Al Wheeler and Tim Glorious took on the Banshees legacy, and have continued its traditions of booking high quality performers from a huge variety of genres every weekend, and showcasing Ipswich musicians and performers at every possible opportunity.
Dirty Harry’s Toowoomba
- They should be a nominee for giving drag a platform in Toowoomba to showcase there talent but for allowing us to bring diversity and inclusion to the forefront. Giving us a safe space to be able to thrive in and grow.

- If you have ever been you truly feel the absolute acceptance of everyone that permeates thought the very fabric of the venue. It has been crafted and cultivated by the powerhouse that is Billerwell who has genuinely created a venue designed to fill the gap of our community
Kingston Butter Factory Cultural Precinct
- Kingston Butter Factory Cultural Precinct is proudly an accessible, safe and welcoming venue. As well as the physical features of the venue (changing spaces bathroom, hush room, quiet spaces, cerge app capability), the programming at the venue supports LGBTIQA+ artists in creative development of work through Forge Factory program and also touring and local performances. The venue has also allocated funding to help support Loud and Proud - Logans first pride event, and QUEER AND HERE.

Galleon
- Galleon personally and musically represents minorities when playing weekly around Brisbane, Australia and internationally. Galleon's sets have a huge energy and great sense of culture about them, taking many influences from Africa to South America and everywhere in between, while giving the punter the tunes they know and love. He is a fierce advocate and not only represents bears, but kink, people with disabilities and Mob, with the goal of showing people that absolutely anything can be possible with hard work and great determination and passion.
Richie LeStrange
- DJ Daddy Richie LeStrange brings a fun and unique vibe to every gig she’s in. With a background in theatre and drag, Richie knows exactly what sound specs both performers and party goers need to let lose and have a good time. Richie consistently uses their platform to speak out about intersectional feminist issues, the femicide in australia and is consistently supporting PoC people, performers and communities. There hasn’t been a single show in Brisbane Richie hasn’t DJ’ed for.

- She has been a staple of LGBTIQA+ venues and events in Brisbane and the Gold Coast for many years. Resident DJ at the Wickham for over 6 years now.
Adam Cox
- Adam is a fantastic DJ who supports local groups and events on the Gold Coast, a kind human and great DJ who always gives back. This year he has picked up more work and started performing in Brisbane at a range of events as well as on the Gold Coast.

- a distinguished DJ and live performer based on the Gold Coast. With over a decade of experience in the music industry, Luke has consistently demonstrated exceptional talent, versatility, and a deep commitment to enriching the entertainment landscape, particularly within the LGBTIQA+ community. Luke’s performances are renowned for their dynamic fusion of DJing and live drumming, creating an electrifying atmosphere that captivates audiences. His ability to seamlessly blend commercial dance anthems, club classics, and contemporary hits showcases his keen understanding of diverse musical tastes.

- Continuously works towards supporting QIBIPIC (Queer, Indigenous, Black and People of Colour) events and artists, actively promotes inclusive club nights with a focus on supporting marginalised groups, contributing to a more equitable and diverse music scene

- One of the most versatile DJ’s in Australia, not just QLD. His knowledge of dance music from the 70’s to now is impeccable. Can read a room like any real DJ should be able to.

Micah Rustichelli
- Micah Rustichelli is a Meanjin (Brisbane) based artist who delves deep on gender, the body and exposing the queerness that exists defiantly in the body and throughout society. They use their craft to immortalise local queer legends, performers, drag artists and community figures in artworks. Micah advocates strongly for local art and the Brisbane scene. Throughout 2023/24, as reigning Altimate Showdown Champion, Micah represented the Brisbane queer arts scene at festivals such as Dark Mofo (TAS), Midsumma (VIC), Liveworks Festival (NSW), and Woodford Folk Festival (QLD). Micah is also the Program Manager for the On Display program with Backbone Youth Arts, monitoring a group of queer artists in developing new works.
Alex Michaels (Tosk)
- Creating garments for drag queens, performing artists, leather gear, making it affordable to people to get their own pieces, merchandise, they have sponsored many years of competitions from queer sister Smackdown, P.O.C, QPHC, Leather Week, as well as donating prizes and products to countless fundraisers

- Published writer in the first ever issue of the Tulip Rose among celebrity articles and interviews. Her article was a political piece that detailed the history of queer liberation, the etymology of words we use today, and it was a call to action for the community to come together, learn our history, and fight to make a difference.

- Harry is an independent writer/producer/ director and freelancer in production roles in film and TV, and can often be seen out in the community supporting other LGBTIQA+ artists performing.
Cassius Owczarek
- Cassis is a Meanjin-based LGBTIQA+ identifying photographer who always goes leaps and bounds in the work to creative safe spaces for local artists, educate on photographing LGBTIQA+ individuals in a safe and respectful way and despite his young age, he has proven himself to be a role model and leader to all creatives and LGBTIQA+ people.

- Steven May is a lighting designer who specialises in burlesque, cabaret, theatre and circus. Touring nationally and lighting a wide variety shows there isn’t a single show or stage in QLD Steven hasn’t lit. Steven runs his own production team and has decades of experience and a wide set of technical skills, he truly paints every performer in their best light.
Asphyxia
- Their unmatched dedication to their craft and the vibrant impact they have on the Brisbane performance community. As a wig stylist and costume creator, Asphyxia has a remarkable ability to transform creative visions into reality. Their attention to detail, innovation, and passion for design shine through in every costume they create, each piece unique and tailored to the specific needs of the performers they work with. Whether it’s crafting extravagant wigs or designing complex costumes, Asphyxia consistently demonstrates an exceptional level of artistry, bringing out the best in their clients and helping them shine on stage.
Savannah Fry
- Savannah has worked tirelessly behind the scenes of so many drag shows and productions; crafting beautiful costumes and outfits and going above and beyond to support those she creates for. Despite working as a nurse, and not living locally to Brisbane, she spends countless hours behind the sewing machine - and many additional hours driving to Brisbane for fittings. She has been a staple and largely unseen artist for many years, and deserves endless recognition for her dedication and stunning work.

- Shaun Edwards is a First Nations LGBTIQA+ artist whose work across music, visual arts, and community events celebrates culture, identity, and resilience. Through his creative leadership, he amplifies First Nations voices and redefines what is possible for emerging queer artists.
Ophelia Novak
- Ophelia is an award winning playwright. She won the Astra Nova Emerging Playwright award of 2024 and presented The Orchestra at Ad Astra. She has produced burlesque shows, Ensnare Burlesque, Tailor Made and more since 2018, regularly selling out venues. She was a headliner for Sex Fest in 2022 and toured with the Australian Burlesque Festival as well. She is also a theatre actor with a lot of Brisbane venues.

- Bella Belle is a Brisbane’s Autistic and Disabled Lesbian Drag Queen Diva. Dubbed “The People’s Princess”, Bella Belle has made a large impact in the drag scene in her short time. In 2024, Bella become a Queer Sister Smackdown Grand finalist as well as taking out Miss Rising Star and People’s Choice at the illustrious Miss Sporties pageant. Often seen at shows with her loops, her fidgets and her mobility aids, Bella brings an authentic and refreshing level of representation to Brisbane Drag.
Dame Martini Fernando Ice
- She has put alot into her drag over many years and has had alot of success with her Drag Bingo shows. She has also given a lot of baby queens a platform to perform and thrive.

- Gia brings something to Brisbane that no Queen has with the level of vocal talent and diversity she has. I have watched her at many events singing all different types of genres at a masterful level. Paired with her incredible dancing and stage presence she truly is an incredible performer that brings so much to our local scene.
Cady DeVille
- Passionate performer who rehearses weekly, prioritises community service and engagement, advocates for the community, and backs it up with a great show. Cady is multifaceted, multi hyphenated drag talent, sewing, wig styling, and being a choreographer for large events such as Big Gay Day.
Henny Spaghetti
- Henny has taken the world by storm this year - performing all over Australia, plus shows in London and Scotland in the smash hit burlesque parody 'Swamplesque'. During her time in Brisbane, she has kept regularly hosting VIP Thursdays at the Sportsman Hotel, plus a plethora of other bingo, trivia, and themed events around the city. Alongside her performing talents, she has also championed trans youth in a time of great fear and uncertainty - organising the 'Tip at V.I.P' fundraising show and raising over $9000 for Open Doors Youth Service.

- Vollie dedicates every single Wednesday night to her show, vollie & friends while simultaneously working day & night during weekends. She almost never experiences time off & is so active on her socials also, continuously providing entertaining drag for us right at home.

- Maxibon always puts on the most incredible shows. She is young vibrant and a Maxibon show always goes off.
Dixie Wrecked
- a distinguished drag performer based on the Gold Coast, Australia. - Graeme Kerr is the current president of Brisbears and the current reigning Mr Australasia Bear, he has sacrificed and continues to sacrifice his time in order to keep Brisbears running while also shouldering his responsibilities as a representative of the Gay Bear community.
Natee Cooper
- Natee (Pup Bailee ) has dedicated endless hours to the community, being president for Qld Pups and Handlers, current Mr Qld Leather, also volunteering at Bootco events, and is often seen working behind the scenes for many other community events

- A proud Yaegl woman living on Kabi Kabi Country, Em is a fierce advocate, peer worker, abolitionist, and artist who has dedicated herself to creating culturally safe, decolonial spaces for mob navigating suicidality and mental health challenges. After surviving the carceral psychiatric system herself, Em turned her lived experience into powerful community action by founding Blackfulla Alternatives to Suicide (AltSu), a peer-led, volunteer-based yarning space for Blakfullas experiencing suicidality without fear of coercive or punitive responses.

- Ren (they/them) is a lawyer, President of the LGBTI Legal Service, and former Queensland State Director at Out for Australia. Ren is dedicated to furthering LGBTIQA+ rights, spending most of their spare time volunteering for LGBTIQA+ causes. As President of the LGBTI Legal Service, Ren works to ensure that Australia's only LGBTIQA+ controlled community legal service is able to continue to provide vital services to our community. Ren is also a member of the Bond Ally Network Steering Committee, working to make the university more inclusive, particularly for gender diverse people.

Community Sporting Group - This award recognises groups who run, organise and/or host sporting events for the LGBTIQA+ community (excludes social or community support groups)
Brisbane Hustlers
- The Brisbane Hustlers is a community sporting group that creates a safe space for members of the community to participate in sport.
Brisbane Frontrunners
- Brisbane Frontrunners is an all inclusive LGBTIQA+ community running and walking group. It was established in 1999 and celebrated its 25th anniversary last year. It is the longest continually running LGBTIQA+ sporting group in Brisbane. It has 244 members and meets twice a week. It is a very social group as well as a sporting group with many functions run throughout the year as well as supporting various LGBTIQA+ events around Brisbane.
Gay Skate
- Gay Skate has consistently been an enjoyable and fun space for rainbow folk of all shapes sizes and skills to come together and skate. Gay skate are also often seen at protests and rallies, donning their skates for multiple causes and putting their collective weight behind and in support of marginalised peoples of all kinds.
Brisbane Hiking Dykes
- A group of people whose main connection, is the love of the great outdoors.
Brisbane Inferno
- Brisbane Inferno is Brisbane's LGBTIQA+ football club. Inferno creates a safe space for LGBTIQA+ people to play soccer, through its competitive indoor team and social soccer. Inferno is also involved in the A-League Pride Rounds (Australia's top professional football league) forming the guard of honour and providing a representative to do the match coin-flip. Inferno show up loud and proud, and stood firmly against the homophobia and transphobia that the club and Brisbane Roar faced in response to the Pride Round photos. Inferno continue to go from strength to strength, allowing LGBTIQA+ people to be included in football.

Performer of the Year - This award recognises individual performers who identify as LGBTIQA+, including (but not limited to) musicians, dancers, comedians, and burlesque performers. (Not DJs or drag performers)
Ella Ganza
- Ella had an achievement list larger than any local performer. She recently won the pageant in Samoa bringing the title back to title Brisbane and starting a new queer organisation “FAB”
Frenchie Darling
- Winner of Mx Burlesque Queensland, and a constant thrill to witness. Both a sweetheart, and a powerhouse. Frenchie remains unmatched.
Bizzi Body
- Bizzi Body is brilliant, bold and a Blak Camp Feminist icon set to THRILL and captivate with her warmth and charm. Aside from guaranteeing a high energy fun and cheeky show, Bizzi Body uses their platform and stage time to advocate for their communities and for people outside of the mainstream. Bizzi consistently advocates for diversity on stages and line ups in all varieties. Bizzi Body is a nationally recognised and acclaimed performer who is extremely passionate about the Brisbane Burlesque community and works towards making it a safer space for performers of colour.
Rubenesque
- Rubenesque is a phenomenal plus size male burlesque performer that has put on many great shows including Cult, ALT and many Go Go Dancing at Thick N Juicy
Megan Barnes
- Megan identifies as Lesbian and has been a singer , entertainer , tribute artist & impersonator for 20 years doing great work in the community
Mara Maraschino
- Burlesque performer Mara has teased audiences all over Australia and internationally from Iceland to Japan, but is a mainstay of Meanjin’s burlesque and drag scenes. Mara is an in-demand burlesque artist and MC, host of the award winning Cult: The Show, co-producer of altimate SHOWDOWN and tutor at The Bombshell Burlesque Academy. Mara is brazenly passionate about uplifting and cheerleading emerging artists, championing diversity on stages and helping artists discover and harness their unique performance persona!
Phoenix Knight
- Phoenix continues to go from strength to strength as a performer, choreographer, and title holder. He supports upcoming performers and his reputation as a fierce performer is only surpassed by his kindness.
Lord Sev (Sev Faust)
- More than a performer, he’s best known now as an MC, comedian, speaker and multi disciplined performer crossing burlesque, drag, horror, comedy, fetish, musical and theatre into his own brand of one man performance artistry , centering his trans and disabled experiences in his art
Salem Moon
- Salem Moon is a proud First Nations performer who has made a remarkable impact in the burlesque scene since starting up in 2023. She is a lesbian artist that has had to overcome personal obstacles of chronic illness and disability, she really embodies resilience and empowerment. Her hard work has led her to become a sought after performer, Big Gay Day, Pride Fair Day 2024, and has joined Bombshell Burlesque as a tutor. Salem has such a unique and individual style, she can be dark and edgy, soft and seductive, and so fierce on stage, able to tell stories with every movement and facial expression.
Clara Cupcakes
- Clara Cupcakes is an award-winning comedian and burlesque performer who has made Magandjin her home. She works a room like no other and delights and terrifies in equal measure.
