Public Transit Needs Assessment for Northwest Oakland County |
Oakland County Transit Millage (2023-2013)
On the November 2022 Gubernatorial Ballot, the voters of Oakland County passed a millage for Public Transit in Oakland County. The vote in Oakland County — 332,410 in favor to 248,240 against, levied a 0.95 millage against all property in Oakland County. The millage that Oakland County voters approved replaces the SMART millage in communities that have been part of that system with one that will provide funding to SMART and several other transportation agencies throughout Oakland County. The money also is intended to expand and improve transit options throughout the county.
This millage did not pass in the communities of Holly, Groveland, Rose, Springfield, Brandon and Ortonville. Regardless of the votes, our communities combined will pay out approximately $2.5 million dollars per year to Oakland County Transit.
