Bush Blitz TeachLive Application Form
|
Thank you for your interest in Bush Blitz, Australia's largest nature discovery project. A collaboration between the Australian Government, BHP and Earthwatch Australia, Bush Blitz sees specialist taxonomists, Indigenous communities, rangers and landholders, teachers, students and BHP employees working together to protect our country’s natural heritage.
The next Bush Blitz expedition will be taking place in the Expedition Ranges in Queensland from 11th to 18th November 2025 (with potential travel days either side). Earthwatch Australia is currently recruiting for Bush Blitz TeachLive, a fully-funded educational and professional development program that places Australian primary and secondary school teachers of science, technology, engineering, mathematics (STEM) and geography as research assistants on Bush Blitz expeditions. During the expedition, teachers help scientists with vital data collection, learn scientific skills, and communicate with their students by video-calling their class from the field. Following their Bush Blitz experience, teachers are required to create lesson plans using their new knowledge and motivation, and apply for grants through Earthwatch to protect biodiversity and better connect with local environmental organisations and First Nations people. For more information on the TeachLive program and what to expect, please visit Earthwatch Australia
If you are interested in participating in this unique program, please complete the application form below. Please note that while this is an extremely rewarding and even life-changing opportunity, conditions can be quite challenging; facilities at base camp are sometimes very basic (i.e. camping with drop toilets and 'bucket' showers) and days in the field can often be long. If you still feel like this is something you would enjoy, we look forward to receiving your application!
Bush Blitz TeachLive is a fully-funded program. Costs which are covered include:
