Bathhouse Location

Question Title

* 7. The current Bathhouse is in poor condition with structural and accessibility issues. Question Title

* 8. Much of the beach is overly steep and needs to be regraded to improve use. In three possible design schemes, we have preserved as much as possible the small wooded knoll on the beach. However, while the trees provide some much-needed shade, the steep grades of the knoll create a barrier in the middle of the beach and are heavily eroded. If the beach is re-graded, the knoll could be removed and new trees can be planted to expand the shaded areas. Would you favor or oppose this?

Question Title

* 11. Currently the road to the Beach at Pomp’s Pond is very steep with a slope of 14%. This makes it hard to walk and bicycle up the hill, and uncomfortably steep to descend. It is possible to move and re-grade the road to a gentler slope closer to 5%, which meets the requirements for accessibility. This would also allow a path to run alongside the road, which would connect to Rec Park. Rate in terms of importance to you what you think of re-grading the road to make it a gentler slope.

Question Title

* 19. For Future Study: A former gravel quarry lies to the south of the recreation park, currently underutilized as a recreation or preservation area. It is informally used for hiking and active ATV use. 18 years ago, there was a proposal to put recreational fields in this location, which was controversial and voted down with the promise of an educational and nature preserve. This was never realized. This area is out of the current scope of this masterplan, but the town would like guidance for future considerations. Do you like the idea of incorporating the gravel pit as a part of future planning for the recreation park and do you have a preference as to what kind of uses might be considered there?
