Welcome to the Community Consolidated School District 21 (CCSD21) Redistricting Options survey!
New residential development opportunities, housing turnover, as well as shifting enrollment trends within the boundaries of the district have necessitated CCSD21 to examine its attendance boundaries in order to better utilize its school facilities accommodate future enrollment. CCSD21 has partnered with Woolpert to facilitate a redistricting process to redraw the existing elementary school and middle school attendance boundaries. Woolpert is a consulting firm specializing in architecture, engineering, and geospatial services known for its work with school districts nationwide on demographic and boundary projects.
Early in this process, a survey was made available to the community served by CCSD21 seeking its input on the criteria they felt was most important when considering boundary changes. The results of the criteria survey indicated the three most important factors for respondents in the redistricting process were to:
i) attempt to assign students to their closest school;
ii) attempt to create boundaries that align elementary, intermediate, and junior high school feeder patterns, and;
iii) attempt to create boundaries that align entire neighborhoods to the same school.
Options A, B, and C presented in this survey were prepared by a committee of CCSD21 parents, residents, teachers and former students in response to the needs of CCSD 21 and the results of the redistricting criteria survey. The survey results, background data, and initial options were created with consideration for the school sites, student body, and community at large in a redistricting process.
This survey will gather feedback regarding the community’s preferences on Options A, B, and C. Respondents are asked to rate their level of support for each option and have an opportunity to provide general feedback at the end of the survey. The feedback provided will be used to determine a preferred option and make any needed adjustments before a final recommendation may be presented to the CCSD21 School Board.
Below you will find a video presentation covering each option as well as a link to a boundary locator tool so you may determine how your home address may be impacted in each option.
