Brandon Hendricks Scholarship

Oyate Group's Brandon Hendricks Scholarship was created to honor an incredible young man who lost his life to senseless gun violence. Brandon was a shining star in the Bronx community and a natural-born leader. He was headed to college with a full scholarship and was determined to use his education to transform his community for the better, and we know he would have. The Brandon Hendricks Scholarship was created to carry out his vision for a better Bronx by enabling young folks in the community to receive a college education.

Applications for the fourth annual Brandon Hendricks Scholarship are now open! Two college-bound Bronx high school seniors will win $20,000 each to use toward their education over a four-year period. In order to continue receiving $5,000 per school year completed, scholarship winners need to maintain a 3.0 GPA and be involved in one extracurricular activity at school (clubs, sports, etc.). After the first year, the two winners will become mentors to the next pair of winners for the following year and will continue until graduation. 

Applicants must be from the Bronx and graduating seniors headed to college. The application includes written statements reflecting on Brandon’s life and detailing how applicants hope to use their education to improve the quality of life in the Bronx. There will also be an interview phase for the top 10 finalists, where only two will be selected.
