B Line Bus Lane Survey

Introduction
Since the start of service on June 14, 2025, the METRO B Line has operated in a temporary westbound bus lane on Marshall Avenue from Wilder Avenue to Cretin Avenue. The bus lane is active during times of increased traffic where B Line buses get caught in congestion, Monday through Friday from 7:00 AM to 6:00 PM with parking restricted during these hours. In addition to buses, bicyclists can use the bus lane, as well as cars making right turns.

The lane’s original purpose was to mitigate transit delays related to changes in traffic patterns during MnDOT’s I-94 construction project, which was completed in August of 2025. Since then, the lane has continued to benefit B Line riders, contributing to faster and more reliable bus service.

The bus lane will remain in place until at least spring 2026 while Metro Transit, the City of Saint Paul and Ramsey County consider making it permanent. Metro Transit, the City, and the County are now seeking public feedback to inform this decision.
