Get an unforgettable look into the world of architecture and design! The American Institute of Architects (AIA), ACE Mentor San Diego, AIA San Diego, and The San Diego Architectural Foundation (SDAF) are thrilled to offer a free, hands‑on architecture and design experience for local middle and high school students during AIA's Conference on Architecture and Design (AIA26), the largest architecture conference in the country. With more than 10,000 architects from around the world gathering in San Diego, this is a rare chance for students to explore the profession up close. This program is designed to be fun, immersive, and educational, giving students a meaningful introduction to creative problem‑solving, design thinking, and real careers in the built environment.
High School Program — Thursday, June 11
Students will step inside the world of professional architecture through firm tours, peer presentations, and hands‑on exploration of the AIA26 Expo Floor.
- 11:00-11:15am— Student arrival at the San Diego Convention Center (111 Harbor Dr, San Diego, CA 92101)
- 11:30am-12:30pm— Student presentations in the NextGen Lounge Theater (select students will be identified beforehand)
- 12:45-2:45pm — Visits to local architecture firms + lunch
- 3:00–5:00pm — Expo Floor exploration and networking with architects
This day is ideal for students considering architecture or design, or those who simply love creativity and hands‑on learning.
