Eligibility Criteria:

Organization sponsor and event must be located in Otsego County.

Grants may be used for

  • Creation of events, commemorations, activities, and historical commemoration events related to NY 250 and Unfinished Revolution that foster community/civic engagement.
  • Staffing and other costs associated with local 250 events, including incidentals (e.g., insurance, security)
  • Funding can be used for commission/purchasing/restoring of art or other historic documents, licenses, paintings, artwork
Grants are NOT available for:

  • Capital expenditures
  • Promotional items to be used for resale
  • Travel & food
  • Operating expenses of facilities or organization sponsors
  • Conference or education costs

Application Procedure:

Apply online by 12:00 p.m., April 17 and explain your event in detail. Please give a detailed outline of the budget and use of grant awards in the following questions.

Grantee Responsibilities:

  • All applicants must assign one primary contact for the grant. The application must be filled out completely & submitted using the online application
  • Grant recipients are required to submit their America 250 events to appear on the I Love New York America 250 events page by clicking 'Submit Your Event' on the county's official tourism office page,thisiscooperstown.com/events. The button to submit is at the top of the event calendar. Email info@thisiscooperstown.com with any questions or issues.
  • All advertising and promotional materials must engage in co-branding with NY 250 (using NY 250 logo). NY 250 logos can be downloaded here.
  • If you maintain social media accounts or sites, you should “tag” NY 250 and/or NYSED social accounts.
  • Keep all events and activities free and open to the public.
  • Submit a completed W-9. Grant funds cannot be disbursed without a W-9.
  • If the event is canceled for any reason other than weather, the grantee must return the grant money.
  • Submission of Final Report.
  • All grant recipients must submit a post event narrative by August 21 through an online report form. Links to the post event portal will be emailed to all grant recipients.
  • A summary narrative detailing how the grant assisted in promoting the event.
  • Submit a copy of all promotional ads or materials placed with grant funds through the online form or by mail. Submit a copy of all receipts for purchases using grant funds.
