UPDATED: ELGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:
· Youth who CAN already swim with proficiency
· Youth who are 16 years old before the first Class
· Preference given to youth who reside in the City of Buffalo and attend a Buffalo Public School
· Youth MUST be able to commit to the full 32-hour courseThe curriculum to become a certified lifeguard has been developed under the guidance of the American Red Cross Scientific Advisory Council, a group of nationally recognized experts that reviews the curriculum to ensure that the information provided offers the latest science.
The American Red Cross Lifeguarding classes are designed to teach you not only the basics in water safety but also the proper protocol when dealing with any emergencies around water. The Red Cross blends both traditional lecture style along with crucial hands-on training in order to teach you effective techniques to deliver prompt care to those in need.
