For decades, law enforcement agencies have used roll call and other start-of-shift briefings to do more than pass along assignments and information. They can also provide an opportunity to reinforce skills, discuss incidents, share lessons learned and prepare officers for the shift ahead.
Police1 wants to understand how agencies are using that time today: how often training happens, what officers and leaders find valuable, what gets in the way and what could make start-of-shift training more effective.
For the purpose of this survey, “roll call training” refers to training delivered as part of roll call, shift briefing or another routine briefing associated with the beginning of an officer’s shift, whether delivered in person or another format.
This anonymous survey is open to sworn personnel at U.S. law enforcement agencies. Responses will be reported only in aggregate. The survey should take approximately 5 minutes.
