A new Official Plan for Oxford County

Oxford County logo
Oxford is a growing community, and that growth is expected to continue in the years ahead.

In the past, the County’s population increased by about 1.1% each year, but we started to see an increased rate of growth between 2016 and 2021. This is expected to continue at a rate of about 1.6% per year. This means that by 2061, the County could welcome nearly 97,000 more residents, growing from about 126,700 people in 2021 to around 223,600.

This also means about 42,000 new homes will be needed, with roughly 1,050 built each year.

A new Official Plan will help guide this growth, shaping how and where new homes, services and businesses (i.e., places to live, shop, work and play), and infrastructure (e.g., water, wastewater, stormwater management) are developed over the next 20 to 30 years.
