UITP GLOBAL ECONOMIC OUTLOOK FY - 2026

The International Association of Public Transport needs you!

The Public Transport Outlook is a biannual exercise carried by the UITP Transport Economics & Finance Committee with the objective to take the temperature on the health of the public transport sector and expected evolutions for the year to come, based on the FY 2026 budget.

The 2026 edition survey counts 35 questions. Most questions across this survey will seek to compare 2026 to its previous year.

Structure of this questionnaire:
Section 1: General respondent and organisation information
Section 2: Demand forecast and ridership
Section 3: Forecast for revenues and costs
Section 4: Uncertainty
Section 5: Balancing the 2026 budget
Section 6: Preparing future investments and strategies

We encourage respondents to answers as extensively and to the best of their abilities. Where exact data is not readily available, please provide your best informed estimate. If you feel unable to provide an estimate, you may leave an answer blank. Do note that only the first 5 questions are compulsory, along with the question on UITP private policy .

If you wish to have access to a pdf version of the survey, you may download the document here. A word version may be requested.

Deadline to complete the questionnaire: 31 March 2026

The data submitted through the UITP Global Economic Outlook 2026 survey will be compiled and analysed by UITP staff and stored in the UITP online file storage platform. Collected data will be shared and analysed internally within the UITP Transport Economics & Finance Committee, excluding any personal data. The analysis results will be published as anonymous aggregated data. In particular, neither the organisation providing the data nor the cities to which the data relates will be identifiable in this analysis.

Note that your answers to the survey are saved even when you exit the survey. Therefore, you can come back later and complete your answers if needed.
