Thank you for your interest and participation in the Canadian Network of Asset Managers’ (CNAM) survey “Asset Management Education in Canadian Universities”. The goal of this survey is to help CNAM develop a better understanding of the current landscape of asset management (AM) training available to undergraduate and graduate students. Secondly, the survey will help identify challenges and barriers to implementing AM training across the country and serve as a reference for future initiatives promoting AM training in post-secondary institutions.
Asset management is a growing field of study in Canada (and internationally), with a significant need for trained practitioners, researchers and innovators. For this survey, asset management is defined below:

“Asset management is an integrated approach, involving all organization departments, to effectively manage existing and new assets to deliver services to customers. The intent is to maximize benefits, reduce risks and provide satisfactory levels of service to the community in a sustainable manner – providing an optimum balance. Good asset management practices are fundamental to achieving sustainable communities.” – CNAM’s Asset Management 101 Handbook

No personal information collected from any individual participating in this survey will be published publicly and we will make every effort to ensure you cannot be identified directly. All responses and any identifying information will only be known by myself (Mike Benson) and the CNAM Board of Directors. Completed questionnaires will be saved in protected folders with limited access to myself and CNAM Board of Directors. Participation is voluntary and you are free to withdraw from the study and to withdraw any data pertaining to yourself, at any time, without penalty. If you have any questions or concerns regarding the collection and analysis of this information please feel free to contact myself at mbenson@rvanderson.com or CNAM’s Chair, Valerie Williams, at williav@halifaxwater.ca.
